Fold down rear seat upgrade
I saw a wrecked C350 today at the dealership. The front end was gone but the rear looked completely fine. I looked in an happend to notice it had fold down rear seats(which I don't have). Is it possible to pull out the non fold down seat and replace with the fold down? Are all the mounting points the same? Anyhow, I may be able to get it cheap or find one from salvage later and wanted to find out if it's possible to do.

I would think they would fit, at least the bottom mounts now the upper latches might not be there. I don't have fold down seats so I can't tell. Maybe the AD will let you look at the parts on the computer to see if the do.

I can tell you that when I bought my non-slip trunk mat, they had two of them, one for cars with folding seats on one for not folding seats. I can tell you that the trunk mat for non-floding seat trunks didn't fit my car (I had to change it) I got folding seats BTW. The difference is that my trunk has a big lump behind the seats that other trunks (non-folding seats) dont have.

I am going to stop my my friends shop today and ask him about it. It sounds like the bulkhead between cabin and trunk my be formed differently so that would pretty well nix the whole idea. Hopefully will have a better idea tonight.

I really can't see them making a major structure change for an option. Maybe a brace or two has been added and definitly a latching point. But then I'm not an automotive engineer.

not sure if I want to start splicing into the wiring harness and replacing dash peices to accomdate swithces...I was really just hoping for a few bolts on the seat and a few screws for the release mechanisms...

Maybe the lump in the trunk is just to make it flush with the folded seats
I think that withouth that lump you will have a step when you fold the seats.
If this is the case then you could leave without it.

i think there is a bump in the back of the trunk so the trunk floor lines up with the seats when theya are folded down

If you do it properly, the folding rear seats too have some wiring, to warn the driver if the seats are not properly locked and rear passengers present (I did not check for the W204 but other cars have this, the W204 must be the same).
