Hello all, just picked up my new C300 here in Toronto yesterday and absolutely love it. Found a wealth of informatioin on here, and it definitely helped me with the decision.

Have a bluetooth question:

Has anyone successfully paired the car with a HTC PPC 6800, sometimes referred to as the Sprint Mogul? The car seems to find the phone fine, I am then prompted by COMAND to create a PIN. I do, then my phone immediately sees that and asks for the PIN. I key it in, then both the phone and COMAND issue the error, unable to pair, problem with PIN.

Even though COMAND seems to suggest it wants me to create my own PIN, just in case, I've tried some known manufacturer defaults like 4 zeros, 1234, 1111, and even longer number of digits. I've checked the phone for security restrictions requiring certain strong password, but nothing like that is setup. COMAND doesn't give me the option NOT to use a PIN.

The phone is running WM6.1 with all updates, dealer is still verifying if I need any bluetooth update for the car, but they don't believe so.

I also have a Samsung BlackJack II running WM6.1, and the exact same problem.

Both of these phones pair with my BMW and my Toyota, as well as 2 different headsets and a laptop with out any issue.

Just wondering if anyone has been successful, or if you've seen the PIN/pairing error on other phones and found a way around it.

The COMAND manual seems to suggest you can reverse pair, in other words, have the car search for the phone, but the options/screen shots in the manual don't show up on my vehicle.

Thanks,
Downtown

I have an '09 C300 and I paired the COMMAND to my BJ2.

My car came preset with a PIN of MBUSA to enter in to the both the car and my phone.

Granted you are in Toronto so maybe MBCAN?

Try contacting your dealer....they may have a master PIN.

Do you have the convenience phone setup, meaning the UHI connector with a BT adapter? That one would use the MBUSA pairing code. The head unit should not have a fixed code (generally devices that have a keypad would not have a fixed code). I don't see a point for a fixed pairing code that needs to be entered for both devices (stupid design if it really works like that).

I was wondering if the OP also had a phone kit in his C-class. I'm not sure if in that case the head unit would accept BT HF connections at all, perhaps it is limited to the BT adapter then?

My pin was preset as 1-2-3-4 from the factory. Are you sure your pins were correct?

You lost me. All I know is the dealer said the PIN was MBUSA.. I entered it into both devices and it worked. Had to v - push over my address book though.

On the 2009 C-Series, at least here in Canada, it appears that this version of COMAND doesn't hard code the PIN. During pairing, COMAND first asks you to choose a PIN, so I chose a 4 digit PIN 1234 then when you enter that in COMAND, my phone immediately asks me to enter a PIN, so I enter the same 4 digit number. Both COMAND and the phone appear to start pairing, then both systems indicate pairing was unsuccessful.

I'll try another non-windows phone to see if it makes a difference, but as I mentioned, both of these phones paired fine with 2 other cars and 2 headsets.

Anyone had any luck with a PPC6800?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far.

I have HTC phone as well. Yes pairing is a bit challenging. It looks like pairing time is too short and if you didn't type pin quite fast. then pairing is failing. I could pair only from 10th attempt providing some quick entered code as 1111. You can also try pair in opposite direction allowing searching for car bluetooth from phone. I succeded in this direction as well. After pairing the telephone works great, however no addressbook and last dialed numbers transfer.

I have a 6900 and it was very difficult to get to pair but I got it done eventually. I think the time is an issue, and I had to use a non unuique code like 1234 not just 0000. But it's done and works well. Just keep at it untill you get it to pair.

Thanks guys, I got it to pair finally. RickP330, Dema and mikestyle, you guys were right, you have to be quick.

I initiated the pairing from the phone first. The phone found a device called MB, asked me to create a PIN, I picked my own 4 digits, then immediately COMAND asked for the PIN. It didn't work the first 3 times I tried to pair, but as I got faster at putting in the code, 4th time it worked. I mean you have to be really fast, that COMAND knob was red hot from spinnin' so fast.

FYI, lightening fingers also worked for the Samsung BlackJack II (only took 2 tries), and I've actually had to re-pair that phone for some reason, it didn't remember it.

When both phones enter the cabin, COMAND seems to be linking to the most recently used one as expected, but it dropped the Blackjack from the list for some reason, but repaired it again and seems to be holding.

No contacts brought over, as expected...Volume/clarity good on both phones.

Thanks again everyone!

I think you can send multiple contacts by just selecting them all and beaming them all at once. I haven't tried it yet though. I did it one by one.

I just paired a HTC yesterday in a new GL (similar bluetooth capabilities). It took three tries due to being timed out. However, the address book downloaded immediately with no issues at all.
