W204 US Comand to Europe Comand

I am basing this all on the fact that a lot of Americans show up here with DVD players and can't use it to play DVD's they buy off base. Again, I may also have no idea what I am saying, it just looked like an idea that no one seemed to mention.

I may be totally off then, but I know that German DVD's don't play in US DVD Players. I have friends that rip the DVD's and have them on thier harddrives (I have about 20 movies on my laptop that were ripped from DVD's). I thought that once they were in a MP4 or MPEG format, they could get reburned to a US DVD and the car may be able to play it.

And you can change the region code in the Eng Menu So those with US cars should be able to go have a local dealer change the Region code to the one for Europe. That should allow them to play German DVDs on their US Head Units. There is a limit to the times you can do this however, the Dealer Service Techs can reset this - I have been told See pics.

Hi after some months .My MB service tries to get special CD

With this CD you can manage to force the UScommand to work with European maps.
Please advise how to get it?

I've got the 204 827 70 59, must be the one just before the '71 59 was released. Why would it have to be the latest one? You must need Star diagnosis too, not only the DVD. Do you have instructions for the task?

My car is US spec and I have been able to load GCC (middle east) maps on it.
First it wouldn't read the DVD but after changing the DVD region in ENG MENU to the number corresponding to middle east (forgot what it was) it read the DVD and changed maps without any glitch!!!! you gotta change Market/DVD settings ----> region code before you update though!!

You need to change the DVD region code to the correct region for the maps. I've converted my US Spec to European maps by going into the Engineering Menu and changing the Region in Software Parameters (I think was the section) to ECE (2). Check out gpsunderground forums for more information on this one, they've got tons of information on it there.

You need to change the DVD region code to the correct region for the maps. I've converted my US Spec to European maps by going into the Engineering Menu and changing the Region in Software Parameters (I think was the section) to ECE (2). Change the Region to ECE (2)
Turn the car off for 5 minutes.
Turn the car on, and scan the radio dial, the US setting will only scan odd decimals (i.e. 100.1), EU setting will scan all decimals (i.e. 100.0). If you radio is scanning all decimals, the update has taken effect, if not turn the car off and continue to wait for the settings to finish applying.
Insert European Navigation DVD, and follow the on-screen instructions.
You will need to leave the car idling for about an hour and a half, and there's a disc change after about an hour and 15 mintues.

I think the 2008 needs a COMAND update before the newest NAV update..
So, maybe 2008 needs COMAND update.
Then, I should enter engineering menu and go to Software Update.
Put Telematics update CD and wait for about 4 hours to succeed ?
Does anyone have this Telematics update CD ?
And, what about car battery during the update, do I need engine running 'till update complete ?
