Telematics update DVDs come with SDS SW updates. Officially you have to buy the tool and subscribe to updates. Also helps if you know someone at a dealer.

I'm not sure if you mentioned if you got a Star, you need a Star anyway to make use of the Telematics DVDs.

 

Thank you. I was recomended to get this CD in my MB service team.The problem is that the German MB they do not want to promote the US MBs yo be imported back to Europe and they do not want to sell this CD. Funny!

Thanks everyone, I finally manage to load European map into US Comand NTG4!

Access engeneering menu via this key combination: "Hang up button + # + 1"

* Via Engeneering menu change region from US to ECE
* Remove the key and turn off Comand for 5 minutes
* Insert NTG4 navigation map and start updating

- If you get message about wrong software version, go to MB dealer and ask them to update you Comand software first.

* After that check at the Engineering menu if the region was set to ECE
* If it wasn't, then change it first
* Finally insert NTG4 navigation map and start the update

Go to page 48, there are instructions for updating navigation map . . .

i have a W204 with NTG4 command, got into the engineering mode but cant come out of it...does anyone know how...please help

 

I shut my car off and back on to get out of the engineering menu. I didn't see any error codes when I did it.

 

Hi again after some months. You mentioned you got this CD '70 59. Can I buy it from you? Or can you copy this one ?

 

These CDs and DVDs have MB copyright, only MB should sell these (comes with the regular updates for SDS).

I don't think it is only an issue for an imported car, dealers are not supposed to sell tools for ordinary customers (just for certified shops). Some countries follow this advice, some don't.

 

You need to go to page 2to find the Exit Menu. I think you need to pull your comand wheel towards the back seat to change the page.

i appriciate if some one would please tell me how to reset the engineering menu on my ntg 4 command because i didnt know which i can only change the region code 5 times and i have exceeded the limit and now when i hold the hangup+ 1+# it doesnt go to the engineering menu any more i tried to take it to the dealer and they conected their star computer which had the DAS xentry software on it and they didnt know how to reset the remaining change on the dvd section of das software so they told me that they have to program the firmware which they dont have the cd for it so if any one can help me and tell me step by step on the DAS software how they can reset the remaining changes on their computer so i can have the engineering menu back i would really appriciate your help!

Somehow I click o whole bunchof button and i got to a dealer menu (I think i saw th drive distractions on it but i was driving and i got a phone call the menu went away and i could not go back!!!!! i have a w212 2011 does anyone know how to get back on the dealer service menu

Just to share my experience. I brought my C300 from US in 2010. I wanted to update comand W204 to Europe, therefore I read all the posts I could, and I start trying to try different solutions.

I got the unit to read European DVDs by entering into the engineering menu and changing the region code. So far so good. DVD movies without a problem and UK radio and Traffic Announcements. I have to say that the only "problem" with the radio is that it doesn't show all the different stations in the dial display.

Now, in order to update the GPS I bought the maps of Europe, A204 827 47 59 (v6.0 2009-2010). I tried all the different tricks I have read in this forum, shut down the car for 5 minutes, etc, etc... I always got the message similar to "wrong version or wrong software". No way, Jose.

This year I took the car to the dealership for service and I tried to convince them to update my command with the disc A 204 827 70 59. I gave them this reference but the nice gentleman told me that this CD was not even available in UK and therefore his only experience was to change the whole command W204 unit. Orientative cost fot the update, around £6,000 (ha!). I tried to find this CD on line, but no luck, and I have to say that I was getting a little fustrated.

Finally, I decided to buy a new comand W204 ECE from e-bay. £500 and install it by myself. There are great posts of how to retrofit the W204 unit. I followed them and I managed to change the whole unit without major problems. Everything worked at first try (no need to use Star or update anything else), except the sound. I realized soon enough that was due to my car having installed a Harman Kardon system from factory. I found a couple of forums indicating that the comand unit needed to be updated to work with this sound system, so finally I gave up and called an specialist in command retrofits, that agreed to fix it for me (There is still nice people in the world). I don't think he used Star but the Engineering Menu, but I was not present to tell you what parameter he changed (If you are desperate as I was, I am deeply sorry about it).

So after 2 years and £650 spent, I have the comand unit updated from US to ECE. Pretty happy, I have to say.

 

So you want to say that's no way to change Firmware on US command from original to EU?
I'm upset! Why I should change the whole unit instead of just flashing the EU ROM?!

I purchase a US Spec in Germany with US maps ... Went to the dealer to get the European Map ... Now I am going back to US ...

 

Just a question. I have a 2010 C350 US Spec without the NAV system (stock radio). I am in Germany and want to change the radio to ECE specs (not the US that it is running now) The engineering mode on the non NAV unit has no option to change to ECE, but I know the radio WILL receive the even numbered broadcasts, because the engineering mode has a radio test function and I can see/listen to these frequencies, I just can't keep it in that mode. Does ANYBODY have any idea how to do this? I tried to get the MB dealer to do it during a recent service, but no luck.

 

Do you notice if, after loading EU map, the button "Country" is in place of ZIP/State usual US button?

 

YOU ARE A GENIOUS! THIS WORKED LIKE A CHARM! I THOUGHT I WAS OUT OF LUCK TESTING TO SEE WHICH REGION I CAN SET FOR THE DVD TO PLAY WHILE MY 2013 E350 WAS ON DRIVE, BUT YOU SAVED THE DAY.

I AM FROM THE US, AND I STILL WASN'T ABLE TO GET THIS TO WORK AFTER TESTING ALL REGIONS.

I GOT WORRIED ABOUT CHANGING THE COUNTRY. IS THAT SOMETHING THAT CAN ALSO BE EDITED AS MANY TIMES AS WANTED??
