Luxury and Sport

Is the luxury model smaller than the sport model?
I saw one today (luxury) and it looks a lot smaller than mine I was thinking it could be the wheels making it looks smaller but I wasn't sure.

They're exactly the same size. I think they look the same size as well, you sure you didnt see something else?

I think you should say opposite. Sport . model is lower than Lux. model (about 15 cm)
but both of them are same size !

I had a laugh at this one - this is one reason I picked a Lux - I just hate the bottom-heavy look of the AMG body add-ons. They indeed make the car look like it's carrying a load in its pants.

Load in its pants...lol. Haven't heard that one yet but I like the lower (lead sled) kinda look. The whole point is to make it appear low, wide and close to the ground...hints at stability. Glad you like yours though I think the luxury looks a little disconnected from the road...kinda like the driving experience I guess.

As I've discovered with numerous tanks of gas: the lower the car is, the better the mileage (mpg). Low to the ground reduces frontal area and results in enough better mpg to more than compensate for the additional weight.

Odd.

So, lower is better!!

(Um, within reason ... don't go scraping bits on pavement.)

the luxury has a less harsh ride, and I was able to get it in the color I wanted.

Yeah.. Well "look" small to me.. not saying that it is smaller.. but they do have a different style maybe thats why I thought it looked that way, also had smaller rims and tires might have given the appearance as well.. ah silly me..

I wanted a touring car, not a "sports sedan". To each their own.

(And yes, I bought my first Mercedes long before most of you have been on the planet. I can only say I think the AMG body stuff looks odd to me.)

I have a luxury, because we pay here € 3000,00 more for the sport model

So my car is a 50+ car:

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
The Sport looks exactly how I want it to look. I must admit the lux has grown on me considerably. I glanced at one pulling out of a parking lot and thought it was a S Class until I looked again. It has the classic MB look. I think the grille and the bumper have a lot to do with that.
