Canada Snow Storm

I am from Calgary and we have a heavy snow storm just the past days. The temperture has dropped to -30oC. My 350 4matic is stuck at the snow and could not move it. I guess the stock 18" AMG Tires are not meant for the winter. I guess I have to wait until next year to drive the car. Pictures to come .....

You should have invested in a set of winter tires, before they were all sold in Quebec...My used winter tires help some. but without the 4-matic on my car, it still is a challenge to get out of side streets...

WOW....

you expected 18" HP tires to get you through a Canadian winter....

I will read this thread as an attempt at some Canadian humour....

I am in Calgary and I drive a 09 C350 4MATIC. I am aware that the "all season tires" are not appropriate for Western Canadian winters. What tires should I get, and I noticed that the stock tires were different sizes for rear and front. Can I swap new winters tires in the same sizes?

Sebastian, I had Dunlop Winter Sport M3's on my G35 and they work great in the snow. Blizzacks are just a name plus they have a soft layer on them, once it wears off the tires are no good. The dunlops are good for a longer period of time.

I have Dunlop 3D on my RWD and no problem anywhere in this Calgary winter weather even with 245-17s on the rear.

Quebecer reporting here.

Well I'm getting my '09 C300 Manual in January, and I'll be driving straight from the dealer to my buddy at Merson tires to slap some winter rubbers on it. Keeping my fingers crossed I don't get pulled over by 5-0 on the short trip from Silverstar to NDG, and more importantly, that it's not snowing that day!!!

I haven't figured out what rubber to put on there. I had good experiece with Yokohama IceGuards on my RWD '04 manual G35 coupe. Mind you it also had LSD.

Merson... isn't that the shop that Ted Bird over at CHOM advertises? What street is it on?

BTW, what tire model are you thinking about? And BTW, can you send me via PM the details of your deal? I'm looking at either a C230 or a C300 manual as well - and have not yet decided if I was going the 4MATIC route.
