C300 Quad Tip Exhaust

Hey guys. I finally got all my parts to do the quad tip exhaust so I ended up doing them this weekend. Special thanks to VaderSS for his thread on how to.

I went to an excellent shop here in Las Vegas to do the custom fabrications. The shop is called "Black Sheep Performance". I am truly impressed with their fabrication skills. They are perfectionists, which are exactly the type of people you need for this mod. Scott, the fabricator recommended we do a "Y" pipe tip instead of a "T" like Vader's. If your in the Vegas Area, you should definitely check them out. They also said that if there is enough interest, they could make them and ship them out.

Heres the pictures! Enjoy! (sorry but i forgot my camera so took them with my crackberry)

The tips are lined up perfectly. The pictures are a little deceiving.

TheDarkSide… Nice Job! The best thing about this mod is that you can have it your way!

DarkSide… ran into another MBworld driver that saw my post and he did the same as you with the ‘Y’ pipe, but he also deleted the post cats and the sound is really nice…. Raspy with a little grunt (he only rev’d it to 4k) in the parking lot. Didn’t sound cheap at all. Better than a Remus exhaust I heard! Think G37 but a little louder. The reason he did not change the stock cans was when he looked through the muffler it was a straight through design… no baffles! So he figured very little the Remus could do performance wise…

Looks good man! Now when other ‘C’ drivers ask you if your exhaust was a factory option what are you gonna say?

He figured right. Remus and many others basically just change the sound. Straight through is straight through. All you can really do is change the sound. Headers and high-flow cats are needed for real performance gains on naturally aspirated cars when you are just changing the exhaust.

Darkside, that is a clean install.

I agree 100%. You can mod the tips anyway you want. I spaced my tips together and liked how it looked, so I went with it.

Are you talking about the post cats right before the resonator? I am thinking about removing them instead of removing the resonator. I want to get rid of the small cats and do a "H" pipe. I'm hoping that the "H" pipe with the small cats removed will be a bit quieter then the resonator-to-Xpipe conversion, but a little more sound then stock. Any opinions?

Totally agree. If your looking for performance, you might as well replace the headers and cats for more hp gains, then changing the exhaust.

thanks Derspeed!
You're welcome.

And, headers, cats and mufflers are all part of the exhaust system.

sorry, thats my fault. I'm used to axle back bolt-on exhausts. I guess "Muffler" would be the correct terminology?

Axle-back works. I just wanted to make sure I understood you. I am actually in the process of designing an axle-back. On this car, there is really no point in messing with the performance of this exhaust. It's optimal if you don't want to install headers. I just want to create a better sound. It's hard to find good help though.

TheDarkSide… I believe he just cut the post (secondary) cats these are the ones just before the resonator… here is a link to someone that did it…. I would not remove the stock resonator unless I had a V8 https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w204/256214-x-pipe-install-pics.html

Personally I wouldn't mess with any emission related component of the exhaust. Not to sound like a sour grape but it's there for a reason, and not to mention the stipulations for getting caught removing them is $$$. I can't believe you guys can even get a shop to remove them for you.

The price includes the diffuser and brackets. If I bought a quad tip exhaust system for $1k, I'd still need to buy the diffuser and brackets and pay for it to be installed since you cant just bolt it on as an axle back on the C's. It would have cost me $1400 for a decent exhaust, diffuser, and install.

black sheep quoted me $300 for the custom quad tips. I need to cut off my tip and send it to them for it to be done. Anyone else want to do this with me?
