New here... got some bad news. and need help!

Im 18 i got my c300 last year and today on my way to school i got cut off by a truck so i changed lanes and ended up rear ending a car (who braked way too early for the light).. i swerved so i only messed up my driver side fender/bumper and scratched along that whole side

BEFORE

Hurts us both..

Basically, i need to replace the fender and bumper.. so i was thinking of getting a c63 replacement. but where would i get this?

Sounds as if you were lucky not to do more damage.

Best not to follow too closely behind & be more attentive . Dad.

You can get them from the AD but they won't fit with your hood the C63 is a bit wider. Even with the hood it will take a great deal of work to get everything lined up. A member here did this very time consuming and expensive.

this is why when you're 18... you shouldn't be driving a benz...

gotta get a car that you can knock about a bit... till you learn to drive.

I think if you start driving expensive car ealier in your age, it makes you never want to drive less expensive cars. put yourselves driving a hyundai, scion, honda, nissan, vw.....
they are great reliable car. but not a Good car.

To the OP- that sucks.

I don't understand the logic of some people. What does it matter what he drives at 18? If he had a civic and crashed that..how is that a better situation than crashing a C300? Both cars would require fixing and the cost would be the same (that's what insurance is for).

To the OP..I'm sorry dude, that sucks.

you really think fixing a civic and a benz would cost the same?

and insurance will pay for it sure... but he rear ended a car which means it's his fault no matter what the reason... which means his premium will be going up...

and insurance on a civic is less than a benz with a clean record... 18 is young insurance is high untill 25... add one conviction and once again more $$ add 2 convictions and no one will want to insure him..

Dude, no offense, but stripper Jettas are in the $18,000 range. My girlfriend was looking at one and it wasn't nearly as impressive as my 2003, Passat. I do agree, however with those who think such a car is not appropriate for such a young driver. You need something that can take some lumps and bumps with no worries. BTW Hutch, how are the spacers working out?

OP, just avoid the headaches and get the car back to original specs.

I have not read all of your posts and I don't intend to..
From my experience with forums I've learned that people are more opiniated on the internet than they are in person. I respect everyones opinion.. and yes Im young for such a nice car but they call it an accident for a reason. A truck cut me off and the personn in the next lane braked early.

If anything, I did good by swerving to the right instead of damaging my front. At that speed I could have done way more damage.

Anyways, I guess ill just get stock parts. Or are there any other body kits that you would recommend?

Id like to stay on this forum without having to deal with middle aged *****s

Sorry about your C. If the truck's insurance is covering the costs, go for C63 headllights(looks like yours is chipped up and the other guys insurance should be happy to pay for an extra light to keep you happy and non-litigaious), and C63 look grill.
As far as us middle age guys, it is a bit unusual for a teenager to drive a new Benz but I don't think there are too many haters on this forum...it may come across a little "fatherly" sometimes but give it 15-20 years and you will understand...
Let us know when you decide what you are going to do...and if something custom, post some pics.

Sucks to hear about your mishap. Ignore the haters, they can't help themselves so they flame you so they can feel better.

Maybe check with your dealer to see if they have any contacts regarding body kits or other modifications.

There are some aftermarket C63 style hoods that supposedly fit our car correctly. The Brabus kit looks pretty sick but IIRC many of they didn't fit the sport models that already have some AMG styling to them. They require the luxury body style.

If they are replacing the front bumper for you, maybe you can get quickpark installed and some new rims if they got rashed?

Gook luck with your car, and welcome to the site!

OK, calm down here. That crack about middle aged *****s makes me wonder what your definition of middle-aged is. I would point out that the term "dude" is not used by anyone beyond their early twenties unless they are stuck in their teens.

As to the damage, it looks pretty bad but really isn't. Your point about turning it into a sideswipe reduced the cost by a huge amount and eliminated any deformation of the car's structure. Looks like a bumper cover and a front fender (aluminum) and paintwork. The wheel is too dirty to see if it was scuffed.

If I were you, I would not be thinking about any C63 parts since to do it right, you would be replacing a lot of stuff out of your own pocket and besides that, modified cars are hard to sell and the value is reduced.

With respect, I think you know that males in your age group have more accidents than any other group and this is reflected in your insurance premiums. Your goal now is to learn from this and improve your driving skills.

I speak from experience, having been an instructor in the Porsche Club's Driver Ed program for more than twenty years. We're not talking about how to park or back around a corner, but how to drive your Porsche on the racetrack at racing speeds (140+) without taking your car home in a paper bag.

Looking ahead and getting the Big Picture is vital and keeps you out of all kinds of trouble.

Best of luck with the repair.

expensive is subjective and is relative on how well off you are. though the C300 may be an expensive luxury item for us normal/average folks; for all we know he might very well be wealthy and this "entry-level luxury" vehicle is just the lowest rung out of all the other luxery vehicles.

or even perhaps, his family wanted to get this as his starting vehicle because of its outstanding safety features.

Sorry about your car. I suppose modding the car would deaden the pain, alittle anyway and you would be getting at least some value out of the whole sorry event but i wouldnt do it. Just get it fixed, its low impact damage.

I am in a foreign country but unless you can identify the truck (and have a second witness as she will just deny it) then if you were in our country you would have no hope of claiming against the truck firstly. Secondly having collided with the rear of the car it doesnt matter that she braked too early you would still be at fault. Having spent some time in the US i figure thats what your going to be stuck with. So pay the excess and run it thru your insurers. Having said that, perhaps if you indicated which state your in some of the fellows might make a few suggestions for body shops which have mercedes spray houses. If not ring up MB USA and ask where they get their cars fixed in your neck of the woods. that would be good enough for me. My main concern would be about getting the whole side resprayed PROPERLY. At least with the flat white there should be no probs with blending.

Cheers
Maxy

LoL no offense but why u even bother mentioning that u are 18 anyway? whats your point of doing that?... Remember, its not how good a driver you are, instead, its really how good other ppl's driving can be on the road. Im a class 2 driver in Canada and Im in my mid 20s... no accident until someone ran a red light and struck me last year. Thats when I learn no matter how good, what age, how much experience you have on the road, you can't prevent other ppl from doing something stupid and struck you.. Anyway, good luck with the repair and everyone drive responsibly in the future man!
