I would go for the first one you posted as it says it will take SDHC which is needed if you want to go over 2 gig.

Has anyone tested these before, or are we assuming they will work based on the item description?

I have a Sandisk PCMCIA multicard that works just fine. Unfortunatly it is not SDHC so I am limited to 2 gigs. No big deal that is still a ton of music in MP3 format and I can get 2 gig cards for around 5.00 USD each. I had the card sitting in my desk drawer I don't even remember where I got it from.

Any big computer store should have them. I'm in IT and it was in my desk, I have no idea where I got it from.

Is that true that for SD/SDHC the max. is 8GB, and for Compact Flash I can go up to 32GB?

I thought SD was 2 gig and sdhc was 8. I could be wrong and I am happy with 2 gig's.

We would not be having this discussion if MB had just mad it a USB input and hid it in the console. Jump drives would be so much easier and cleaner.

I just picked up some CF 8GB cards for FAR, will the headunit take that much in a CF card?

How much storage is in the headunit to begin with?

Someone was talking about some sort of USB plug adapter that goes in the glove box that wasn't expensive and somehow it showed something on the actual COMAND screen. Anyone know what that is?

How many songs do you have on your 2gig card? Do you have the songs separated into different folders (if that's even possible) or all they just in one big folder?

This must be the MI (Media Interface, not UMI) kit, I believe it comes with option code 518 from the factory.

Owners are using 32 GB Compact Flash cards. It is not about the head unit memory since the content does not need to be stored to the hard drive.

The limits are not on gigabytes but the number of titles totally (4000 on a W221, I'm not sure if it is the same for W204, should read in the Comand/MM manual). The maximum number of folders and the maximum number of nested folders is limited too (was it 255/8), no problem if content is properly stored on the card.

A few hundred I have never filled one up. I only use a single folder as each card is themed. At 5.00 USD each when I buy bulk I have a few dozen lying around (I also have three cameras that use SD). So I have one with every Beatles song on it (Wife is a big fan) while for me I have a Prog rock card and my daughter has an indie/alternate card we also have one for Christmas so on and so forth.

I assume you would then prefer the PCMCIA interface slot as it is on the current Comand (MM) instead of a USB plug somewhere in the glove box?

I mean the MI option that does allow USB devices at the glove box is fine but myself I prefer the PCMCIA slot that I can reach while driving and where the memory card is still neatly hidden. Quite a few owners would prefer the USB with a big hard drive but they should understand that it is not ideal for all.

I would love a USB input in the center console, I have tons of jump drives of all different sizes. In the glove box would be no good as I keep it locked to protect my I-pod (which I very rarely use).

I just bought these:

It seems like a good deal, plus I'm close to NY, so it shouldn't take long for delivery.
