Is the ECU removal still current for a 2014?

MB C220 Sport W204, 18" AMGs, Grey lthr, xenons, p'ktronic, HKardon, Comand nav.
Tuning a non-turbo car by means of the ECU is not that successful - maybe 5% increase in power if you're lucky, thats why they discourage it.

W204 C250, I4 engine config ECU location?

Hi everyone,
I’m rather desperate for guidance as to the location of the ECU in a 2013 C250. It has the I4 engine rather than the C300’s V6, thus the ECU is not atop the engine as is shown in this guide.

I am having engine trouble, with cyclinders 3 & 4 misfiring, and have had it diagnosed as a faulty ECU. I am hoping to remove it on my own and mail it in for potential repair or worst case replacement. Please, if anybody can provide advice it would be GREATLY appreciated! See attached photo of my engine configuration. Thank you.

2013 C250 with engine cover removed. Please, feel free to mark where ECU is located!

It is right -no pun intended there on the right side of airbox when looking from front to back.

Who did the diagnosis? Did you swapped/changed coils? Cleaned injectors?

Brilliant. I can’t thank you enough for the guidance! Diagnosis was done by a German auto shop in central Florida. First shop I took it to said it may or may not be engine harness, second shop said harness is fine and that issue was the ECU. At 86k miles, I’m still confused as to how but have accepted ***** happens.

I personally replaced all 4 spark plugs, and swapped coils to see if the misfire would follow. Unfortunately did not so I ruled out bad coils. I don’t believe it’s injectors, although I’m by no means a specialist (see my original question).

Engine issue was intermittent, in which it’d start with a real rough idle and if flicked on/off a couple times after warming up could start and run fine. Unfortunately as of today it seems to no longer have it in her to start. Hoping to remove and mail ECU to see if a repair is possible

I swapped Coils and it didn't follow. Did a new ecu fix this issue?
