My excuse for a new grill.

Today,(the first day of my first vacation in 3 years) I rear ended someone on the way to MB. Tomorrow I'll take it to get an estimate (not like it matters since I'm only paying the deductible). Since i gotta get it fixed i figured i'd get a new black grill. Does MB make the OEM grill in black? If not is there a black OEM replica out there? I dont like those black grills on ebay with all those vertical slants if you know what I mean. Anyways though here are some pics. I wish I would have been at work, this would have never happened. My first friggen accident in 17 years, Oh well.

MB doesnt have black grilles, ebay has the C63 replica that looks pretty nice, but IMO its nicer to paint your own, here.s my recently finished grille:

You sure could use a different plate holder to that EU spec plate

that happened to me in the parking lot ! except the person in front of me .. backed up into me... they did damage the hood slightly.. but not really noticable.

Trust me, go for the c63 replica black grill on ebay or something (make sure it has the chrome trim all around the top edges and bottom)... installation takes about 30-40 mins... for a newbie... requires some reading on the forum (search for it) ... and you'll be 10x more happy with the new grill.

It should cost about between 200-240 bucks CAN (don't even bother with your insurance.. consider it an upgrade and valuable lesson)...much cheaper than the mercedes grill part which runs for 320CAN.. and it looks very nice.

.. ohh just noticed you will have to go for insurance.. you have bumper damage... that probably means some work...

OUCH! I agree with Vancouver, go with the C63 grille... I'm looking into getting one myself.

Just realized you're in KL, too.... Howdy!

Cool, send the pic so i can see what it looks like. I might have to go the c63 route. Does the OEM c63 come in black? That way I can possibly have MB replace through the insurance. Im trying to be cheap and not have to pay for a grill on top of my deductible

E200C-Fully loaded, Obsidian Black, ILS, Panoramic roof and some other bits and pieces.
That’s a bad one, don’t make a habit out of it You do need a new front bumper as well from what I can see.
2 weeks ago someone managed to kiss my ***, I was lucky, as my car didn’t get even a single scratch, only the diffuser popped out of its place, Mercedes popped it back in for free.

IMO, go with the C63 grille, it gives the front end even a meaner look.

C350 and a Lightning.
I admire your ability to turn a bad situation into something good.

Be sure to have the adjuster(s) do a very detailed inspection because some times these little fender benders can cause unseen damage.

have fun deciding on your new grill look.

You may be able to get the new grill under the insurance.

I wasn't really too sure who's fault it was going to be (the guy was arguing saying it was my fault) so I actually did end up buying a new grill from ebay a few hours after the accident.

I took my ebay receipt to the insurance agent.. and said, look here is the mercedes part # here is the cost. I'm saving you guys a $100 by buying it on Ebay. They called up mercedes and the information checked out (i mean a grill is a grill) so they accepted to re-emburse me for the ebay grill at a $100 discount to them had they paid for an original C350 sports grill.

[ sadly, i found out the guy that hit me didn't have an arm and was a war vet.. so i just accepted the loss, didn't claim any money from anyone and i still have the minor dent on my hood. I didn't want to persue it anymore or cause him any more harm ] The new grill does look fantastic though !

It could work for your case... since you will have to go through insurance and they are ALWAYS looking to save money.

here are the pictures of my accident from last october... you can see he backed up into me... from a NO PARKING ZONE. I don't know what he was thinking .. but it cost me dearly. you can see how bent my hood was.. you can't see it in the pics, but the grill star was totally cracked. The entire grill caved right in.. and hooks inside broke. No damage aside from the grill + hood. i actually had a friend smooth it out a bit.. but the crease is still there... will have it fixed at SERVICE A when i get some other stuff fixed in the car. [ all my expense of course ! ]

C350, thats good to know i might be able to get the grill through the insurance, I've gotta move fast though because on monday MB will be sending in the estimate and I cant seem to find any C63 grills on ebay. I found one through Carshine but they want to much for it. I might end up waiting till my new grill comes in and just take it and have it painted before they fix it.
