anyone purchase and EXTENDED WARRANTY?
I have about five days to decide if we should add the extended warranty to the 2009 C300. Seems a little on the high end, 3200$ for 7/75 coverage, when the vehicle is 4/50k.
This is from the dealer and MB, so same as original warranty coverage. Totally refundable till end of 7/75, so it is basically the cost of money over time and nothing else.
what do others think?

I got the 7yr/100k mi warranty that was available in 05/08 when I got my C. Paid ~$3k for it. My biggest fear is electronic gremlins, and with the P1, MM, and pano roof I didn't want to take any chances. Price out some common problems' cost to repair and you might have a better idea. I'm surprised MB backed the extended warranty to 75k miles... Looking at that I would have a problem paying so much for another 25k miles. Can you get a cheaper, shorter time but same number of miles? I think those were offered when I bought my car, too.
PS: Bought my car in NC, not here in Germany.

Yeah, 7/100 would be much more worth it to me than 7/75. Not really sure why they would change it. These are MB specific, my understanding, so is there variance from dealer to dealer?

Extended
You should read the coverages very carefully. I purchased the MB extended warranties from my dealer for both my W202 and W203 and both had exclusions. As I recall, seals and gaskets and the radio was excluded and there was more. I paid $2400 for the C320 warranty which was an additional 4/50, not the 3/25 they are asking $3200 for. But, after the original warranty on my W203 expired, the extended picked up an additional $2800 in repairs in the following 3.5 years I owned it, so it paid off. But, both the 202 and 203 had many problems right from the get go, the early W203 being about as reliable as a five-dollar cruise missile.
But now, MB has produced (along with the W221 S-Class) a nearly trouble free car and yet they have raised the extended warranty cost substantially and cut the coverage period by 25% and the mileage by 50%.
I decided to skip it.
You should know that there is a lot of dealer profit in these policies and they can be negotiated down.
Last year there was an MB saleslady someplace who was selling these policies for $100 over cost. Still a good deal for them because they will never see the car.

What is interesting is that it is TOTALLY refundable, 100% until the time that it is activatved. So, I figure maybe get it, and then refund it if the car seems reliable.

Refunds
During the 7.5 years I drove the unreliable C320, I don't recall ever paying a repair bill.

Does anyone know if getting a discount on the MB warranty is possible? I have read posts of this, but don't know if it is true or possible. Dealer of course says, no discounts.

Not sure whether this only applies to us here in Canada but the extended warranty doesnt have to be purchased at the same time. It can be purchased anytime as long as it's before the manufacturers warranty expires.
"The Extended Limited Warranty can be purchased at any time during the new vehicle basic warranty period (48 months / 80,000 km), as long as the current owner purchased the vehicle from an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer.
If you have a Star Certified Warranty from a Pre-Owned purchase, it can be upgraded to an Extended Limited Warranty at any time during the new vehicle basic warranty period, as long as the vehicle has been regularly maintained by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer. Depending on your model and date of purchase, $850 to $1,900 could be rebated off the purchase price of the Extended Limited Warranty.
*Please consult your dealer for pricing. Certain limitations apply."

yes, one can purchase after the purchase at any time, but in the USA at least there is now a 15% premium after 30 days from original vehicle purchase.

I would also like to know the price she quoted you on the 7/75K. I have been shopping around for a extend warranty for about 4 months. I was told by the dealer that I will have to pay a 10% fee since I am out of the 30 days period, but still under the 1 year mark.

Thanks all for the updates. Just an update here.
I went ahead and bit the bullet, wasn't able to get a call back from the location above, but managed a 17% discount from a local dealer here. Bout 3K for the 7/75, which is fully refundable and all that jazz. I'll make a judgement call in the next few years about this particular vehicle and whether it is still worth it to hold the warrantly. But, nice little insurance policy.

I want to say that I paid somewhere in the ballpark of $3500-$4000 'ish for an extension of warranty to 6yr/100k miles... I did the math, and with the amount of driving I do, I'll have just about 100k miles in 6 yrs.
So yeah.

Well, got her on the first try just this morning even though she was with a client and she took about an minute to take down my info and said b/c she is doing this on her spare time, she may not get back to me right away..
All depend on her work load and schedule, but she said she will defintely save us money on extended warranty, just her day job has to come first..
Sounds like a good person over the phone..
