Side Mirrors Stolen...

Both side mirrors vanished when I went inside for 2-3 hours at a concert in Houston. I've had my car 3 weeks, first new car, insurance should cover it right? Deductible is 1000 so I'd pay that max. How much are these things actually worth? Dealership OEM replacements I'd assume? Sigh...

Thanks,

Holy $^&#!!! What poor schmuck would steel your side mirrors?! That's not right. Your insurance would certainly cover it, if it's even worth making a claim. See what the dealer charges for them. Is there any other damage?? Were they ripped off or removed nicely to maybe say be installed on an '09?!?!?!?!

sorry to hear that you had a moron decide to walk by your car and run off with your property!

good news is that I don't think your $1000 deductible applies here as that is your collision coverage, don't you have a lower deductible for comprehensive damages?

Mine are $500 and $100 respectively...

hope this puts a little sunshine in something a little cloudy

lol, honda civic with mercedes mirrors. that would be hilarious.

They can cost that much, but maybe a little bit more than regular non-folding mirrors.

It seems both collision and comprehensive deductibles are 1000.

Dealer quoted me at $2500 for both mirrors just for the ordered parts from Germany(I guess).

Thanks for the question though Indy

+1, it would be prudent to have them order the 09's (if you like the style), since you're already going to be paying out the a$$.

The new 09s are just going to be more air dynamically engineered to create less highway noise? Is that correct?

Driver's side is still auto-dimming right? And folding with signal markers?

Would insurance still cover this legally since I'm getting the newer model part? They probably would not even notice since I will be ordering the parts myself.

Fyi - The rental car is a X type Jag, so I get AWD for a bit but I want my Benz back!

Non folding mirrors may be cheaper & cause less problems in the long run? .

How about checking with the wreckers?

In a word: no. Or at least my '09 mirrors are noisy, and others here have complained about the '09 version. "Less" is subjective, maybe, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything close to silence.

Official estimate for both '08 side mirrors - $3233.03!

And in case you were wondering, the guys at the Benz dealership said all they want off them are the signal lights that fit some Civics and new Cadillacs. Roughly $40 in cost if they were to buy them, as opposed to ripping them off my car.

Still $1000 deductible is too much for 2 mirrors
