My suggestion is to write a letter(limited to 1000 characters) from the MBUSA contact us site. You will get a call in a few days. Be polite, explain the situation, don't accuse them of anything. Provide your VIN so they can confirm the production date. Level headed is the way to go. Remember to thank them afterwards.

Ironically, I got a letter from MBUSA headquarters this week with something about providing the best satisfaction possible for the car. Not sure if it was related to my email to them.
No way, that is awesome! Can you PLEASE tell me who you spoke with there? I tried MBUSA earlier and they denied me because I was over the limitations, even though I had complained about it since I had the car

it would be much appreciated if you can refer me to who you spoke with, thanks

QUESTION: I got my rears replaced today with the updated parts, and I can tell that the new rear pads are "black" in color and they do look kinda cool and aftermarket...

They have a part number stamped on the front that reads : A 204 423 12 10

Did I get the same replacements as everyone else???

How come mine do not say 005 420 42 20 for the part number like the others that posted???

New brake pads are black with MB Logo and part # lettering on white. The pads are also seen through the caliper. My parts order was:

1 005-420-42-20 Brake Lining
1 211-540-17-17 Brake Wear S
1 001-989-94-51 Brake Paste

They emit almost no dust on my rears so far.

I brought mine in today and kindly explained to the dealer about the excessive brake dust in the rear. He told me I didn't qualify since my build was 10/08 but he did it for me anyway! SWEET........

Dealer cannot find AR42.10-P-0250CW

My car is currently being serviced by Mercedes Benz of Chicago. I have given the service rep the WIS document number (AR42.10-P-0250CW) and even sent him an excerpt from Daimler AG's service manual that shows this bulletin that I found on the internet. However, he claims he cannot find it in his system and therefore cannot do it. Any suggestions? How have others solved this?

You would think MB would have fixed the problem by now. I still see W204s driving around with their rear wheels covered in brake dust. Makes me shake my head.

Update: It's been well over a year since my rear pads where replaced and still no brake dust!

I drive an 09 and mine gets caked with brake dust within two or three days. -_- I really should go consult them about it. But the dealership around where I live is rather....apathetic about customer service.

Same here. Rear pads replaced at about 6k miles in Summer 2009, no more dust a year and 8k hard (lots of stop & go + twisties) miles later. Thanks again for this thread -- the info here convinced my service advisor, who was initially unaware of the issue, to investigate and authorize the fix.

Has anyone changed their pads under the TSB lately? I contacted MBUSA and this is what they told me:

Please be aware that a Technical Service Bulletin or Dealer Tech Bulletins
(DTB) are simply work orders. They are not an extension of warranty. The
DTB you are referring to was for early release models. A new pad was
produced, so as a gesture of good faith to our customers, we did replace
the pads free of charge for those customers. This was only done in the
event the vehicle was having this issue within either the first year or 12k
miles. The DTB is no longer in effect as effected vehicles are past the one
year time frame and the new pads have been available since that time.

As this vehicle has been in service since 2/9/08 and currently has 34,559
miles, this would not apply.

My car's build date is 12/07 and that apparently doesn't matter anymore. I haven't contacted a dealer yet so just wondering if anyone has done the pad change lately.
