People have no respect for rental cars.

I brought my car in to service and they gave me a C300 loaner. I love the C-Class, just not this specific one. The interior is dirty, smells a ton like smoke, etc etc. I've been given brand new loaners with only 7 miles on them before. These crappy VERY used loaners are not a good example of what these cars are truly like. Sucks.

To be fair, the dealer I went to this time doesn't have their own on location rental company and doesn't give out their cars. They outsource to Enterprise rent a car.

Sad.

The Benz dealer I go to has w203s for their loaners and they too are always gross. It just leaves a bad impression.

All the loaner C Classes I ever get always smell like smoke. Not just a little bit either.... so much that I have to drive with all the windows down usually.

I got an R class last month and there are chips and crayons all over the places. I assume it was lent to a soccer mom with a bunch of kids.

95% of people don't care about loaners especially if they are taking their cars for warranty work.

Brumos Mercedes in Jax have their fleet of 08 W204s as loaners. I actually like them to have for a day (after that I get separation anxiety about my babe)

Well, you know how smokers are. It's a personality defect.

So the wait for your car must not be that bad then, right?

Btw, I was sitting in the car earlier. I actually cleaned it a little bit.
Just little things like dirt off the dash, seats, etc. Sprayed a little Febreze (sp?)... Can't stand the smell of smoke.

No it's still hell. The dealership has been a joke, and the loaner car isnt as nice as mine..

No loaners are usually as nice as your own car. Except of course that brand new loaner I got. It was literally brand new. Well it should help at least make it better...

Now that is the sign of a real car guy...cleaning up a rental...I have to admit I have done that myself a few times. It is aggravating as you know it is the dealers or rental companies responsibility...but it is so hard to ride in a dirty car.

Purely a reflection of the dealer quality - it's embarrassing to let these out with months of accumulated grime.

I get ones in perfect condition.

Same here. My dealership uses an on premise Enterprise but the cars as mostly 2008 C300's that are ALL very clean and smell good...they do a nice job of keeping them in good condition.
When they run out of C300's they have a few W203's and then some Infinities and Mazda's...
I've been lucky as my SA calls me in the afternoon to tell me he has a nice C300 for me...

Yeah..I think the condition of the loaner are a good indicator regarding quality of the dealership..
My dealership has a fleet of 120+ loaner cars all are models from the either current or past model year (08 or 09 right now)
Whenever they get a loaner back, they always inspect, wash & detail the car before putting it back to use as loaners again..
I take my car in for service today and got a 09 C300 with about 5K miles on it and the interior is just like brand new..
We bought a new 06 C230 from them a couple yrs ago and I had no problem buying my C300 as a retired loaner car from them just last month b/c I know how they treat their loaner cars..

yeah have to agree it does look poorly on the dealership if the loaners are crappy looking and not maintained.

Same here, prefectly detailed cars from MB BRUSSELS every time. Filthy loaner and I go complain.

Umm... I hate you.

Actually, I really do. That's not fair at all. I'd love to get an E-Class, nonetheless a 550!

Just out of interest, which dealer in Brussels are you talking about (as far as I can tell from the website there are three: Deman, Europa and Drogenbos)?
