Your Input on extra products on a new C350-

I ordered a C350W4M-white,with Pano,P2,MM. just arrived at my dealer ship. They called me and asked if i need these extra products on my car. what's worth the price and important? By the way i am from Canada, so US some of these won't make sense for you.

Tire and Rim Warranty - 699$ for 5 yrs
Wheel Locks - 101.55$
extended warranty 2yrs on Top - 2490$
Boomerang - $1699$ for 5 yrs
Tint - 499$
Stone Guard - 499$
Paint Protection - 399$

What you all think? are they trying to make money? or they trying to help me?

Wheel Locks - Do an amazon search, should be able to pick up a set for $50.00
Tint - Tint shouldn't cost you over a couple hundred bucks, $499.00 is high even if it's a Ceramic.
Paint Protection - You're better off with a good wax and sealant.

Just my honest opinion on above...

Most of those prices seem very high.

McGaurd wheel locks should only run you about 45.00 USD.

Tint around 225.00 USD

Extended Warrenties are usually a waste (my car will be traded in before the regular one ends)

No idea what Boomerang is, sat radio?

Is Stone guard a clear bra if so it can be had for half their price.

Tire and rim might be OK if you are going to keep the stock ones on.

Paint protection use some quality wax.

All this is IMHO of course and your milage may vary

a quarter mile at a time
I would very carefully read the fine print all all of these.

- Tire and rim warranty - does this cover accidental damage? How many times a year, etc etc. Do you have to buy new tires from the dealership? I would say it's probably not worth it

- Wheel locks - there's really no point in wheel locks

- Extended warranty - I'd loook into this one as well. Is it the MB warranty that's 7rs 100K miles? This one might be worth it.

- Boomerang? - After a quick google search it looks like this is similar to a Lo-Jack type system. Seems very expensive.

- Tint, Stone Guard - Prices seem very high

- Paint protection - complete waste IMO. It's essentially a wax.

I am leasing my car so when I my lease expire, I can convince my sales person to take care of any damage.
You can pick up wheel locks for half the price.
For extended warranty, you can save by just going for a reputable mechanic and genuine MB parts. In most cases it will be cheaper. Some MB extended warranty is refundable if you have not used it. In that case, it may be worthwhile to get it just for the piece of mind.
Boomerang is a nice service. But unless your insurance requires it, it is not worth it.
Tint: get a good pair of sunglasses instead
Stone Guard: I won't go for it because I always like the original look.
Paint protection: I like doing it myself with really good wax and sealant.

as always i agree with Ron on this, most of this stuff is a major mark up that u can buy yourself at a fraction of the price.

I am from Canada, I have a C300 4M with AMG wheels, I bought the 3 yrs tire and rim warranty as our roads are really bad in Toronto and my car is leased. The warranty is covered by http://www.diamondkote.ca/tiresrim.htm

Peace of Mind: Repair or replacement of a flat tire and/or damaged rim due to a road hazard such as potholes, cracks, nails and glass Convenient Transferability:
  • Coverage extends to all valid tires placed on your vehicle – including winter tires!
  • If your vehicle is a total loss due to theft or collision, transfer the balance of your coverage to your new vehicle
  • If you sell your vehicle, transfer the balance of your coverage to the new owner
Curb Damage Coverage: A $50 benefit towards your insurance deductible
Zero deductible: Benefit covers taxes, valve stems, mounting and tire balancing
Towing/road service: Benefit of up to $100 per claim
Food and Lodging: Coverage up to $50 a day (up to 3 days), if stranded at least 400 km from home
3, 4 or 5-year Coverage for new, pre-owned and leased vehicles!

On top of this above, the rim is covered if a rim is damaged due to an eligible flat tire claim, and the tire will no longer seal to the rim, they will re-imburse you the cost to repair or to replace the rim if unrepairable.

It was worth it for me to buy this warranty because each of my wheels cost about 800.00 CAD from the dealer.

Tints cost about 250 CAD everywhere around the city, so that's a rip off also, when I got mine tinted, the shop also does dealers such as Lexus, Audi, Mazda. They told me that they charge the same price to the dealer and they use a cheaper film with only 3yrs warranty. I go Llumar film with lifetime warranty.

Stone Guard - 499$: Didn't buy it and is available for much less at tint shops
Paint Protection - 399$: Didn't buy it.
Boomerang: This is a rip off.

All of that is up priced. Everything except the warranty they probably outsource anyways. I'd pass on all of that. You can always ask who they go through for their services and go directly to them to get it done, cutting out the middleman. The only thing I'd think about is extended warranty, but even that can be negotiated and can be bought from other dealerships.
