Problems Starting My Car
I didn't have this issue with my C300. However, I have a 2008 Grand Cherokee, which has the same type of electronic key as MB do (the great minds at Chrysler incorporated this on 2008 and newer Chrysler vehicles). I have the same issue with it. When it does happen, it takes like 3 turns to get it to start up. It's been to the dealership 4 times already, they replaced all the control modules associated with it, still doing it. As a matter of fact, Chrysler's engineering dept worked with the service tech on the 4th visit when they thought they fixed it the last time. AFter that, I met with a regional rep, he said that other vehicles do this and it's normal. Additionally, I've had a couple other issues and had my attorney send a lemon law complaint to Chrysler and will see where that gets me. Keep me posted on whether MB is able to fix this or not. Sounds like Chrysler is aware of the problem but has no clue on how to fix it.

Yeah i have had this happen to me. Turn the key and then the starter sound can be heard but the motor doesn't start. Turn of the ignition and then turn it on again and the engine starts???
Weird, kinda embarrasing LOL

Sorry, not exactly what you are talking about, but today my key are not recongnised by EIS anymore, remote doesn't work (it happened some times last month, now is off-batts are ok 6,4v)I tried second one, which used only once before,EIS does not recongnise it also(no click), but remote works(batts ok 6,4v). I use the service key now,and close/open with second key.
Reprogramming or renewing keys ?(how the second lost its programming?)
C200 kompr. 6/2000, w203.

The W204 problem is different. See Key threads on the 203 forum. The battery only powers the RF function of the key and the IR for the door sensor. The EIS inductively powers the key for ignition operation & recognition. Your problem sounds two fold
1 - One of your keys is dead or has a dead battery
2 - Your EIS is failing & not energising the key - Expensive job!
You can't fix the EIS yourself - It is the peak of the entire control pyramid. I suggest you take it to the dealer for diagnosis on the STAR. I know you are mechanically competent. If the EIS has or is failing you might be able to do some of the replacement work but you will need a STAR to re-adapt everything once installed. Look at it on the STAR first & you might get lucky with a reprogram - but usually not.
