Sprint Booster Purchased Questions?

I just purchased my Sprint Booster for my 300C. I read this is a cheap valuable asset for the lag and all I want is to fix the lag issue when you are on the highway trying to cut into a lane and need the extra pep. One guy had to cut his carpet to hide the wire. Someone else said it fits perfect under the carpet. Any issue will I encounter during install? Any cons to the Booster? Thanks

huh ?? i had the sprint booster on my jeep srt and my fiance's lexus is250 - it hooks up to the plug attached to the side of the gas pedal. All you need to do is usually unscrew the plastic cover in the foot well/under steering column plastic to get to it. It plugs in between the pedal and the plug attached to it.

A complete rip off. They are nothing but $5 dual signal amplifier, that make the DBW throttle more sensitive & give you WOT at approx 50% pedal travel. Your ECU can be reprofiled to do the same thing.

See.

It's not the price of the components that are important. Its the results of the R&D, marketing, production, etc. If you plan on spending $5 and rigging up some piece of crap contraption go right ahead. I'll trust my Sprintbooster. As far as reprogramming your ECU for the same results- I can unplug my Sprintbooster when I take my car for service.

I hear you but bugger all R&D went into that device. Marketing & a moulded case - yes. One question has not been answered - because no one wants to clobber 300 bucks with a hammer, is we hope it is a dual channel signal amp. The drive by wire throttle is dual signal - one primary & one back up in case the primary fails. We hope the Sprintbooster has similar integrity. Sprintbooster have refused to answer this question. From a safety perspective you also have to remember that at half pedal movement you are at WOT & you can go on pushing but nothing is going to happen.

BTW - why would you want to unplug it when you go for service - They can see on the Star it was there.

I agree its a rip. 300$ for something that doesn't increase hp or tq. But to each their own, some people really can't live with the slight throttle lag, so thats the only option.

Everything Glyn said is absolutely true - there was a huge discussion about this on the W203 forum.

The sprint booster is nothing more than $5 worth of electronics, there is very little "R&D" and until someone proves otherwise, I have been told that it does not pass through the cars redundant signal (this probably saves them $1 profit on a $300 product) and therefore is definitely dangerous (getting stuck at WOT cant be fun). On top of all that, what exactly is the point of fooling yourself into thinking you have more power? You're just getting to wide open throttle without pushing the pedal all the way down. There is no improvement in throttle response (lag). Read the PDF - it PROVES this regardless of what people who already spent money on it have to say. No disrespect - a lot of people have been fooled by their gimmick.

The other thing that has been discussed on the huge amalgamated thread is that Benz seem to neuter the throttle response in the ECU flash for certain markets - Why? - who knows - possibly litigation worries. Our family W203 & W204 suffer no such lag.

sprint booster FTL!

heavy right foot FTW!

lastly, learn to downshift yourself instead of leaving it in "D" when you want to make a aggressive move on the road.

Hey guys,

Since Glyn mentioned this was a 5 dollar electronics why don't we all create something like this (since it's only an amplifier) and sell it for 100 dollars???

Since this isn't only for Benz we can cash in on someone elses idea.

I once remember they were selling this magnet that clips on to the oil filter that collects the debris (engine wear) and they were selling it for 40 dollars. I don't know about oil filter but this is an old trick in the book with the Transmission pan (magnet in the pan).

We have aluminum engines, right? That magnet's a great idea, it'll never collect very much, but if it does, whoa!

well there is one benefit to the sprintbooster. Alot of vehicles have adaptive learning ecu's. Meaning if you go wot all the time your ecu will have a more aggressive table and therefore be quicker with less lag. Obviously its alot easier pressing down a little on the pedal and going 60% of wot than pressing down all the way to the floor. Mostly pressing down the pedal to the floor constantly is something we didnt learn in drivers ed so its something that would feel out of the norm for us to constantly do. I agree though if its a $5 mod than why isn't anyone taking advantage of it. I'm sure theres no patent on the technology. Especially since its a european mod.

We have NICASIL/ALUSIL bores which hardly wear at all. Otherwise there is as much steel in our engines as any other engine when it comes to wear components.

because we don't want to get ourselves killed when this junk fails and cuts off the signal from the throttle to ecu and because we don't want it for the reason already listed in this thread. and it's not a european mod. sprintbooster is an Asian company which most likely from Taiwan/China/Hong Kong...take your pick.

You still would have the same split second lag with the SB! That was tested in the white paper. I do wish someone could figure out a true solution to the lag, that's something I would buy!
