C63 grille vs. Painted Grille

wut do you guys think is the better value? the C63 replica grille off ebay is about $130 as far as i know, but i dont know how much it costs to paint the standard sport grille...wut do you guys think is better in the long run? Save money and paint it yourself but having to end up replacing it someday or jus spend a decent amount of money and buy the grille on ebay?

well it depends on what u want, if u really want the replica grill go for it but if u just want a painted grill u might as well go it urself cuz sooner or later either way ur going to have to end up repainting it cuz of rock chips ect. Now im assuming the c63 grille is black too.

DIY paint your own is cheaper, but doesn't matter how you prep it painted parts on the front of the car will get chipped eventually. It's just the matter of opinion that which look you want to have.

I have zero chips in mine. The C63 replica appears to be made of black plastic though, not painted. So if you do get chips, the underlying color will still be black. I may get one just because it gives the grille area a flat snub look.

yup on the 63 replica grille.

rock chip tho...totally depends on the type of traffic that you see everyday. in LA we have semi and trucks every where. the front of my 32 is filled with rock chip and I'm already started seeing chips on the 350 as well.

trust me, just spend the money up-front to buy the 63 rep grille...

I too was brave and painted my grille...looked great when i first did it too, but now it has chipped and it's too time-intensive to have to repaint it.

only took me two runs down to indy from chicago to have my car look like a spotted leopard on the nose...am now waiting for my replacement grille to come in.

wish i had wasted that time initially on ordering a grille and waiting for it to come in.

i have to say, the satisfaction of knowing that you did it yourself and that you did it right is priceless

IMO, the stock sport grill is perfect for the Iridium Silver.

I agree...but unfortunately the silver doesn't look right on a black car

I went for the C63 grill on ebay, I think i paid around 180. The fitting is slightly off, but barely noticeable. I'd recommend it since you get to keep your OEM grill in case something happens.

I dont like the idea of a tacky taiwan replica mounted where it is so visible, feels much better with a painted OE part IMO.

i see...in rancho where i live, you don't get many rock chips, but since most of the time im out of the house usually around LA theres rock chips all over my dads black IS...i swear me and my dad are never gna get a black car again but ya...if you do have to end up repainting the grille i guess might as well get the 63 grill...last longer and makes the car look wayyy better especially in white
