NE1 working for a MB dealer can help me out?

Friday I had my car washed inside out from a car wash in my building at work. They did a shampoo for the carpet and I had some electrical problem due to too much water..

long story short... car was not functionnal.. car got to the dealer removed everything, made it dry up, changed a connector and 1200$ later I was out.

The problem is that there was a Airbag sensor that was imerged in water and they want to change it. the part is in back order and the cost is 500$ they want to charge me 5 hours to install that sensor.

it is the one for left side airbag sensor pn 005-542-19-18.

I will not take any chance and I will order the part but I can't imagine that this will take 5 hours to replace. I wanted to see with someone from a dealer if they have an estimated time to replace that part. I can't imagine that this would be more then 1.5 hour.

any thoughts?

A005 542 19 18 is no airbag sensor, its the yaw rate sensor for the ESP system.

I would think they should pay for the repair, since they actually did the damage. Thanks for telling us, I am not gonna get any shampoo'in unless I do it.

What country might this be? They took a firehose to it, I'm guessing?

I guess if your story is valid and the damage was caused as a result of them running your car through the carwash, then they are responsible for those resulting damages.

Your goods are to be returned to you in the same condition as you turned them over in, (obviously better if you're getting something fixed) but certainly not worse.

I have no idea where this sensor is placed but I cant imagine it would take 5 hours to install it .. it barely takes 5 hours to take out the engine FFS.

In the W203 it is mounted to the central tunnel behind the ashtray. Mine was replaced under warranty for cause.

I live in Montreal Canada, the car wash is going to meet me half way... I working with the dealer to see if they could cut back some time from their invoice. I have 10 hours + distribituion block and the sensor. so far I still have the old sensor since the replacement is BO and no error message. Of course it's always when you don't expect it that the problem will occur!

They're going to meet you half way - LOL

If they're not paying the full cost you need to take them to court.
