2005 SLK 350
By any means would you know how to do this reset on a slk 350 R171.

Thanks.

You may also do a search and find out how to reset the ECU (?) by pressing the accelerator to the floor with the key in position 2 for a period of time and then shutting it off. It basically sets the default of the transmission shifting so that you start fresh on the "adaptive" features which is based on your driving patterns.

Regarding the original post, it seems odd that you are having the problem in both C and S mode, since C is a 2-3 shift and S is a 1-2 shift. Maybe the issue is to do with the engine being cold, not the trans?

I've had the 7 speed in my '07 E350 and 2010 C300 - here are my observations. The tranmission seemed much smoother and less noticeable shifts in the E350. The C seems a lot busier shifting and harsher shifting. Both occasionally seem to delay in retuning to first gear when coming to a stop. I was shocked that this had not been improved between the '07 and 2010 models. Also the C upshifts way to soon whether in C or S mode, in my opinion. Also I hate the fact that the 2010 C300 always reverts to C mode - every time I start the car I have to remember to reset it to S. I am baffled why MBZ would do this?

So far the best automatic I've seen is in my Infiniti G coupe. It is always in the right gear, it holds gears for a long time as you accelerate before it upshifts, and it has a fully manual mode - and all of this with a much more powerful engine than any of the MBZ's 6 cylinders.

Regards,
Exactly this. My transmission feels wonderful, even when I'm standing on the gas pedal to 150 MPH. This Mercedes 7-speed is the only automatic transmission I've ever said a good thing about.

2010 C 300
I love my tranny. Best automatic I have ever had. I have had mostly manual tranny's. I am coming out an Audi A4 with a tiptronic. The C 300 auto is much better feeling to me....no rubber band feel.
