When I was getting my car serviced the dealership gave me a loaner that had the pop out lcd screen with navi, surround and all, Im jealous. My 300 only has the P2 package . Can I still get the Multimedia Package or am I too little too late

Isn't Vic Viper is only retroffiting the command system but not HK logic 7??
There is a couple guys here that replaced the stock audio 20 w/ command..but I have never heard anyone retrofit HK logic 7..
Would think it will be nearly impossible to install the additional 400w amp, do all the wiring, and change all the speakers..

I did the retrofit, and as others have said, it is only for the head unit and screen, not the speaker system. You will still get all the goodies as the navi, voice control, hdd, sd card reader, dvd playback and the video input for the backup camera; but the sound will be pretty much the same as with the audio20.

You are looking at around $2k + a little work for this mod.

The speaker, rewire, and amp install wouldn't be that bad and any decent car audio shop can do it.

It took my dealer about 4-5 hrs total to retrofit my UMI..I would think command retrofit alone will take at least that much time...
Plus all the time you need for the HK logic 7 retrofit...
I think parts will cost something like $2k if you can get them cheap, and you will need to pay at least $1k in labor cost..
Unless you are skilled like Vic Viper..don't think it's worth it..

thats 1 thing i regret, not getting the mm package.. idk y i cheaped out.. but i spoke with my benz parts guy he told me the stock oem mercedes navi would cost me 2500 alone.. without any instalation..

COMAND is a pretty easy retrofit, HK L7 isnt.
I looked into retrofitting HK but I gave up those plans pretty fast..

But the door speakers are the same with both Audio 20 and with 810 sound system.
However the mirror tweeters are different, I have ordered the sound system tweeters and will retrofit them soon, part number is A212 820 10 02.

I have the Audio20 and I am happy I don't have the flip out screen. Its something else to break and I have heard people are having problems with them. I would like to add the UMI so I can watch videos and add GPS. As far as the sound quality of the HK system I can install a SQ based competition system that will blow it away.

vic viper, how much will a pair of the hk logic 7 tweeters cost??
my only complain for the audio 20 is the high aren't quite as crisp as I like...
you think the performance of highs will improve w/ hk logic 7 tweeters??
also, other than subwoofer and 80mm center speaker, what's the size of the other 2 additinal speakers for the front dash for hk logic 7 system?

I dont remember the cost but they wasnt expensive, If I have time I will´begin the retrofit tomorrow, will then shoot some pics of the tweeters as well.

Cars with soundsystem doesnt have any additional speakers in the dash except for the center speaker.

The only differences is that soundsystem has two different (better quality?) tweeters in the side mirror housing, a center speaker and two bass speakers in the parcel shelf.

I got my car last wk w/ the mm package, its awesome. Big difference w/ the hk7 system. What i'm wondering is, can i add more amp or a sub? If i can what can you recommend?

Need help..just bought 2010 c300 and was miss lead thinking that it had nav in it. Has the pop up screen but guy ordered it without the hard drive I guess. (so the dealer says) which means I cant have the nav installed without buying a whole new stereo unit. I asked if I bought a used one off ebay or something could they install it and make it work and they said no because it needs to be coded by mercedes directly. Any help would be great..

Is this a US spec vehicle? You can't get popup screen without multimedia.
Can we see pictures of what happens when you press the nav button??

They did offer the 2010 with a COMAND package, but without Navigation. It always struck me as odd...

I do have the command package and pop up screen...when you press the navi button it says NO NAV. It is a US car. Purchased it in Chicago suburb from mercedes dealership. Window sticker says 528 command package with 7" power retractable 528 standard radio.518 ipod/mp3 media interface. Any ideas...also doesnt have ipod cord but i see plug in upper left of glove box..is this for the cord and what part # would that be? Also what's this "mercedes interface plus" I've been seeing people blog about? Is that something I can get and is it hard to install? Thanks..

I bought this, its a mixed bag. Its a device that you plug into the outlet in your glove box which enables features such as Bluetooth streaming, and reading of your texts and emails. While i havent gotten the reading feature to work i do use the Bluetooth streaming. Its nice not to have to put my phone in the glove box, but it does have a few drawbacks: firstly the process to get it playing is slow, your phone must first connect via BT to the car, then you start the phone playing music, then have to go to the playlists on the car and select audio streaming->curent track, which THEN makes it play. Its also very slow to respond, if you hit advance track there is a 2-3 second delay before the track actually changes.

Where can I get it? Part #? How much did it cost and does it work on the screen display or do you have to use your phone?

I got mine from the dealer, not sure the Part # but it was $300. it works on the screen so you can control the playback through the buttons on the wheel. For me however to get it to start playing i have to use my phone, but once its going you dont have to touch it again

I'm very curious about the hardware differences and what cost MB was charging for this option. They did this with many of the older E classes, but that made (some) sense since the Nav unit was separate from the Comand head unit as well as the audio gateway. On the W204 the audio gateway, nav, and head unit are all built into the same piece of hardware.

So the question is - does he have the standard Comand unit, just without a hard drive or GPS antenna? Can the unit have the hard drive added and an antenna plugged in? I can't help but think the cost to Mercedes must be very similar to a normal Comand unit. The only difference would be - HDD, licensing of maps, GPS antenna, DVD drive, and nav processor.

Why on Earth would the original purchaser have paid for Comand without nav? Doesn't seem to get you any advantages at all, except for eliminating the very tiny very ugly stock screen (sorry!).

I am right there with you! I have been pining after a C since the W204 came out - I was looking pretty seriously in 2010 but couldn't justify it at the time, and I saw this. It was like $1,100 IIRC - cheaper, but not that much cheaper than full COMAND with Nav. I'd almost bet that most of the hardware is there - it would just need a different roof antenna, the HDD and maybe some sort of control unit.

Aftermarket GPS antenna ($20) can even be thrown behind the dash (I did that when I installed Comand on my W203 and got good signals)

$1,100 for what amounts to a nicer screen is absurd. We only paid I believe $900 or so for the S32 Comand package!
