can you snap the headrest back into place for driver + passenger side?
My friend's 335xi rear ended me today and the headrests poped out from my seat and the passenger side... took it to the dealer and they quoted me on $120 to put them back in and reset the ecu or something...just wondering if i can snap in back in place before i take it to the dealer for them to reset the ECU because it's really uncomfortable driving with them out.... Also, my car is on 3 year lease.. my friend's liscenese plate screws left 2 " x " on my bumper little dent..wondering if i should have benz fix that too? Asked one of my friends that work at benz and he said having the whole bumper repainted should be under $500 but I don't want her to pay that much so should I just leave the 2 little x's in the back of my bumper?

bump!!
So after the safety headrests are activated and I put them back in according to the manual do I still have to bring it back to the dealer? dealer says they need a mechanical tool to put the headrests back in and need to recode some safety program.. but after reading the manual it just says how to reset activated headrests so...??
need help!

Read the manual too and it explains how to pop them back, nothing about taking back to the dealer for safety ECU reset which M/B would definitely have put in the manual if required.
IMO this is the dealer looking for their "cut".

finally somebody replied, thank you! yup, I did read the manual so I "reset" my headrests back into place.. but when when I asked the dealer before.. I asked if they could do it for me right away they said it'd take 1hr - 1 1/2 hrs to do and have to recode some safety ecu or something so I think im going to call and cancel my appointment with MB. I'm scared they are gonna inspect the car and charge me for inspecting it or something

Another option if it makes you feel better is to say to the dealer you are a very interested owner and would like to watch what the mechanic does, and have him explain it to you as he does it, as you would like to post it on this forum for other owners world wide.
That will really let you find out the truth, and if it's true provide good feedback for this forum.

they cant charge u without telling u up front, so just ask if its gonna cost anything, i would assume for them to check it would probably cost nothing since the car is under warranty but if they find a problem thats not warranty related then they will charge u but again they will let u know, as for watching the tech i doubt there gonna let u do that, its an "insurance" issue they would say.
