Removing/Changing Factory Mesh??

has anyone done this from the lower portion on the front... if so please post pictures.

the original is ok... but i was thinking of mesh with smaller spaces and something that's not plastic.

would it be bad for the car if i removed the mesh completely and left nothing...? and also do the fogs needs that mesh around them for support?

Metal mesh with finer weave should work just fine. The fog surrounds are actually an integral part of the mounting assembly.
I would think you want to keep some sort of mesh there to keep from clogging your radiator with bits of paper, plastic, etc. I don't think just a gaping hole would look very good....

so i guess i'll have to custom cut mesh to fit there if i want to change it huh...

damn the fogs... that area might be more difficult if the mesh is integrated with the fog lights themselves.

If it's just for looks, you could always try painting the mesh... If you are going to change it anyhow, it may look good and if not you will have even more reason to change.

The silver mesh stands out too much.
If it was painted black I would totally get a set -- I'm on my 3rd plastic mesh already, I can't believe MB would design a part so fragile.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more aftermarket parts for it.

Plenty of DIY kits for mesh mostly used by the Japanese car tuner crowd (notice I didn't say Ricer). Some I have seen have come out nice, but most look horrible. There is a shop I read about that is supposed to be near me that makes custom billet grills for trucks and I have been thinking of tracking them down.

I see that RaceMesh now offers a Black Chrome finish - I just may have to swap mine out for the black chrome...........

Here's a pic from their website
