iPod Cable
hey guys,
which ipod cable do you have? the white end cap or the black end cap? my uncle just got his white one replaced to black one under warranty! i tried to get it changed at a different dealership and they were asking for money. what is the difference between those two cables beside the colorwise? i heard the black one can play newer ipods?
btw, those are people who have multimedia package

Replacement Ipod Cable

It was installed free of charge and I also didn't pay for the replacement cable.

...mines white but my first gen iphone works fine. When i get a chance, i will try it with my new nano, but if that works too, im not even gonna bother changing it.
I might get the 3GS iphone and if that doesnt work i wil ressurect this thread

I have the white cap, and it doesn't charge my 1st gen or my 4th gen IPods. I bought my car in the Green Bay area, but live in Chicago... Does a local dealership have to perform warranty work (BTW it was an '08 CPO)? And is this a "recall" issue... or do I have to beg the local shop to do it?

I called MB Canada, they told me that there is a new cable available and it's not covered under warranty because it's considered a version update and not a defect. The example they gave was the navi maps, maps are preloaded at the factory and when there is an update disc available, a consumer is required to purchase it to update. The same goes for this cable.
I did ask them to open a complaint and I will call my dealer to complain as well.

So it looks like if you have the white tip it won't charge the ipod/iphones where as the black tip does.
I have an 09 C300 came with the black tip adapter and charges my iphone, only problem I have is i constantly forget my phone is in the damn glove box...

lol i dont have this problem with my white tipped cable. it charges my iphone perfectly. I do get the error message on my phone saying that "this accesory is not compatible" but it still works.
