Handsfree/Phone: Issue with redial
Often when a number is busy & I redial,
the carsystem shows the number for abt half a second
but then goes back to "standby".
The mobile itself won't even react / display anything .
It can take upto 5/8 tries before it works.
strangly enough, dialing a NEW number is not a problem...
Question is; is it the car or the phone...?
Anyone

not sure if it makes a difference, but you should try the "external authorization" sync mode (for the bluetooth).
i have an old Samsung and it always automatically connects with no issues calling/receiving.

Also 50% of the complaints are from users not knowing how things work (irrespectively of the phone brand).

I really hate that SAP module, when pairing it fails 1 out of 5 times and some Nokia phones does not work satisfactory.
At MB Scandinavia HQ they always recommend HFP over SAP.
The HFP protocol module works 100 times better and is a lot easier to use.
Also the internal 204 and 212 bluetooth system is using a variant of the HFP protocol.
There is a reason why Sony Ericsson works well with Bluetooth, they invented it

BT HF works with all phones (Nokia too), this must be the reason your HQ suggests to use BT HF, they just want to avoid the hassle to find the best option for everyone. BT SAP seems to be supported by some WM, RIM (not sure if they still are not fully compatible), Siemens, perhaps some other brands, not too many.
I've been using my BT SAP device for more than three years with quite many different phones and I've never failed pairing one. I wonder how long you have been using it or where your experience comes from?
BT is an international standardisation group. If you ask from any of the BT SIG member companies, they all answer "they invented it". It actually is true, they all invented it, together.

The 204 and the 212, among others with the new BT implementation, can be equipped with BT SAP too, I'm sure you know that.
Shall we just try to give views about the positive and negative aspects of each option and let all MB owners decide on their own, knowing their personal priorities?

The vehicles that are hard to pair with a SAP module are non Comand vehicles, I am in charge of telematics in our shop and those cars can really be troublesome, specially if your trying to explain the procedure to a 60 year old man over the phone
But a SAP module and a Comand equipped car is usually no problems what so ever.
But your right, its mainly about personal preference, and as HFP works with all phones and is a lot cheaper than a SAP module its natural that HFP is the system i prefer.
Luckily the new NTG4 system is a lot more user friendly than older cars using bluetooth modules through comfort telephony.
