Autobahn Motors (Belmont) - squeek and smell post
Just wanted to share a great experience with the local dealership (Autobahn in Belmont) as I'm fairly impressed with their timeliness and willingness to work with me - traits I've found increasingly hard to come by in the dealership world.
My drivers side chair has been having some relatively annoying squeeks that I think most folks here have posted a time or 10 about, but mine was the classic unreproducible-when-a-tech-is-there type dealio. I also had an incredibly funky smell coming from the air vents but it was intermittent enough that I couldn't peg it to any one particular action (heat, a/c, cold/hot weather, etc.).
So I brought it to Autobahn, and they not only hooked it up with a free loaner but fixed both the issues even though they couldn't fully reproduce them. Turns out its the evaporator coils (a/c unit) and the chair has some metal-on-metal action going on that contributed to my less-than-optimal experience. Been drivin it around for a while now and I'm happy to say the issues are really resolved!
Glad I bought from these guys - stand up crew that DOES put the customer's satisfaction first.

Yes I had a good experience their also, except for a insane price for a service B inspection. I know they must have crazy overhead expenses, but I can get the job done at an independent MBZ shop for so much less....

Their service A and B prices are insane, I'll admit. But, to be fair, what else would you expect from a dealership? They, like every other business, are out to make money - and Belmont's not a cheap area to do biz. That said, I'm hoping someone can point me to a good MB shop in the area that can do a service B at a reasonable price, because I'm out to save money for LED tails (if anyone has tips on those, too, I'll take em!).
The squeak was a lube issue with the seat - they moved it around and lubed as they moved it. I got back in, took it for a spin, and no more squeaks at start, stop, or any wiggling I could do in the chair.

chamaileOn..if Autobahn accepts coupons from other dealer around the area..you can have service B done for about $249..
if they don't, take your car to RAB motor in Marin..here is the link for the service coupon..
