Fist of all I don't decide it yet.
That's exactly what I meant. Because people wouldn't care it's 5 or 0 so it's not lying or deception. Just I like to do. I don't care how others look at my car. If you feel good with 5 you feel good.

As itself whichever MB is cool enough.
Thanks for your input.

Apparently, Taiwan is not the only country that MB would put the AMG badge on non-AMG car if you pay for the AMG package..

Of course..the idea was quickly scratched after getting some negative feedbacks here..
I am still amused that MB would put AMG badge on those cars..maybe just to make those who paid big $$ for the AMG package feel better??

I don't like debadging..but I do like symmetry..maybe I will see if I can find some badge that spell out SPORT...
What I'm thinking is AMG model of C-class is pretty different car, so putting AMG badge on C300 is strange. But C300 and C350 are pretty similar. Of course engine is different and it coule be huge but appearnce-wise as far as I know only difference is one inch difference in a front disk.

If I keep saying I'll make a mistake in my comments. Anyway you like it you do. don't like it don't do it. If someone asks me what model you drive I would definitely say it's C300.

Thanks for your input.

Huh???

Maybe you should go for broke and put on SL65. Wouldn't make you feel even better?

No I wouldn't.
Please, no offence about what I said. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.

Thanks.

If re-bading was lying, de-bading could be possible deception.

2cents.
Debadging is simply making your car look cleaner.
It's just like wearing a shirt with or without a logo sewn on it.
I personally don't like any clothing with brand blazened across it, it's uneccessary and tacky looking.

I personally don't like all the advertising on a car, especially the dealer badge and license plate frame which was the first things I took off my car -- they don't pay me to have that on so I simply took it off.

Ok, I'll go for it:

People who "badge up", as it were, are pretty much viewed as an idiot. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's true, and you know why? Because many other people DO know the difference, or are around somebody who can point out the lie. You have to walk amongst them, sir. You don't seem to respect those who you think aren't in on the knowledge that your car isn't what you represent it to be. You think you can fool them. You're only fooling yourself

"Lie" is a harsh word too, but the person who does it is looked at as either shallow at best, or just not very intelligent. Are you aware that you diminish yourself by doing this?. YOU know it's not what you say it is. Doesn't that bother you? No? Then I would suggest you think about the whole thing. You are trying to impress YOURSELF with a falsehood? Does that sound intelligent?

Now in another thread I said that I find this kind of thing entertaining. I do. But it's at your expense, sir. So don't cater to my base instincts, please . Just run what you brung, as the old-school drag guys say.

Me,neither. I took off a dealer badge in the back of the car and...have the delaer's frame in the license plate cause my permanent license plate doesn't come yet. The sticker on the front window I'll take it off too.

FYI, there is an appearance difference between the C300 and C350 besides the disk. Take a look at some pictures and see if you can spot it cause I promise you I would.

Well, yes I would say it's deceiving.

Besides, an average person (non car enthusiast) is not going to notice, or care about the difference between C230, C300, C350, and C63. The only thing they'll see is the front grill with the MB star...that's it.

For personal satisfaction you say...not really. Every time you'll look at the badge 'C350' you'll be constantly reminded that you don't actually have a C350.

Personally I don't see the point about doing this. You have a 300, keep the 300 badge on it. Call a spade a spade.

Ultimately your decision...

But like mentioned on a previous post, there are many items you can purchase that are cheap replicas of designer handbags, luxury watches etc...

I don't think I'd feel personal satisfaction from having a cheap knock-off...

It would be just as silly to debadge your GE kitchen appliances and adding JENN-AIR badges on them.

If you find that ridiculous, then I'd say you have your answer for substituting the '0' with a '5'.

M.

I say DO IT, the only one that's gonna feel like **** when smoked by a real C350 like your standing still is gonna be you. Cuz remember real car enthusiasts will ALWAYS know your driving a C300 even if you have a C350 badge. I see this all the time down here in miami with the AMG posers. I dont mind actually its a way of having fun

Yes, I'm one of car enthusiasts. But as I mentioned I don't care what real C350 driver would think when they see my car. I accelate normally not competing when I see C350.(and also C350 doesn't have a reason to outdrive me.) Why do they smoke me?

Another member mentioned but you seems to know a lot. Could you tell me other differences other than one inch difference in a front disk? (I just got it so I don't know much about it)

Please no offence.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks for your input. You're right.
When you buy something new(like a gadget) at first you care some but after sometime you don't care at all. I agree with you in some way.

I think its kind of funny.

People who don't know cars could care less if it says 300 or 350, they think, oh cool, a benz. no matter what the rear says. Those same people see a corvette and even if its a ZR1 or Z06, its still just like any other nice corvette.

People who do know cars can easily spot fake badges and get a kick out of it.

So in the end, the only person that matters is yourself. There's no reason for you to ask a question like this, the only person that has to like it is you. Clearly you don't care if other people think its funny or stupid, so why even bother asking? Just do it.

well i guess if you honestly think seeing the 350 badge everyday knowing its actually a 300 will make you feel better about yourself, and you seriously dont care what others would think about the fake badge like you said, then YES. go ahead and do it.

i still think ethically it is indeed a lie, but i do agree with u that ppl probably wont find it offensive, while some even enjoy seeing these in the poser threads, so as long as you can pass urself with it, wat does a fun little lie has to hurt, right?

though honestly, if you really dont care what others think, why would you start a thread asking for others' opinion?

congratz on the new ride btw. is it an 09? any pics?

I won't do it. I'll debadge it probably, so it's cool thing, huh?
BTW retaraded? I don't see why that word came out here.
Several guys response about this topics are pretty strong. That's why I questioned. Thanks for your inputs.

Debadging tends to be strictly for looks...be it a 300 or a "true" AMG.

Rebadging tends to be for people who, whether they admit/realize it or not, want to impress others...ironically, it tends to do just the opposite.

Glad to hear you are debadging as rebadging is simply a show of poor taste and comes across as very low class.

I think you should buy three S600 badges and use them to make a C666 badge

Also, you should badge your forehead with a 666 tatoo to achieve the above-mentioned symmetry

It/you would be one of a kind, and probably very few people would mess with you.

edit:

just read you are going to consider debagding. Damn. Would have loved to see the tatoo

don't do it... only people who are not proud of their cars or want to show off try to do **** like that. You act like changing the 0 to the 5 will give you that extra 40hp. + Only C350's come stock with a spoiler and so if you're car doesn't have one and says C350 then people will know you're lying. Plus its really hard to position the 5 so it looks factory made. DON'T DO IT! de-badge if you must.

Here's my badge (from the factory):

Sorry about the size--couldn't resize it. Also, sorry about the dirty car.

I don't mess with my badges. The only time I mess with badges is when I think they don't compliment the car. I took off the C32 AMG badge on my w203 when I put the Carlsson kit on there because I think the badge looks stupid when the bodykit is full Carlsson. I put the Carlsson badge on instead.

I'm not gonna touch the badge on 350 tho. I do like some badges on the trunk instead of having none. this keeps away the people that want to race me because of my exhaust and wheels.

I have an 09 C63 AMG.. I'm willing to trade badges with a C300 owner.

That way when a C350 or an M3 rolls up next to me, they'll think they got smoked by a C300.

Any takers? Is it really lying if you are 'downgrading'?
