New Car w/ High Mileage

I'm about to own an MB and hence my first post here.

I'm ready to purchase a new 2009 C300 Sport but find out that it has a little more than 300 mile on it. How do I know if it wasn't a demo or loaner car? Can it be sold as new?

yup it can still be sold as new. The only way you can guarantee no one has test driven, loaned, or demoed the car is order it shipped from factory.

Thanks. I'm not used to seeing such high mileage. All three of my previously purchased new cars had less than 50 miles on them.

I dont' really have anything against demo cars, because you can use that to lower prices significantly. I know my c350 was a demo and I got it real cheap.

I think that any car over 20 miles should not considered new....... If it has 300 miles on it I would ask for a really good rebate!!!!!!!! beside that demo casr get so abused that I would not go for it.

Mine had similar when new. Drove the snot out of it since then and at 15,000 miles equivalent runs like a dream.

I still consider this new and that some one has thankfully put some initial milage on. At approx 10,000 they are nicely broken in and in the case of C class feel and drive a lot better than brand new.

Another round of ICE
Another possibility......Check the Monroney label and see if the dealer to which it was originally sold is the one you're buying it from.

Take advantage of the situation, negotiate for a good discount.

Maybe you can luck out and its been a salesman's car. Benz dealers more so than any other make, seem to let their salesmen and their wives in some cases, drive around in new cars. My dealership for one would never sell me a car that was a salesman's car (or a demo for that matter) without telling me up front. If the car was indeed a demo unit, buyer beware. Demo units see some rough miles, while they may not be many, you can usually double or triple the actual mileage in terms of wear and tear, in some cases unnecessary wear and tear if you get my drift.
