Correct Wheel/Tire size for 4MATIC W204

I've been browsing around the forum in search for answers to appropriate wheel & tire sizes for 4MATIC W204's. I haven't found too many answered but from what i know, there is a certain number to use in order to not damage the drivetrain on the 4MATICs.

Can anyone enlighten me on the proper fitment sizes + offsets for the tire and wheel using a staggered setup on a 4MATIC?

For 17''
Tire:
FRONT: 225/45/17
REAR: 245/40/17

For 18''
Wheel:
FRONT: 18*8.5
REAR: 18*9.5

Tire:
FRONT: 225/40/18
REAR: 255/35/18

For 19''
Wheel:
FRONT: 19*8.5
REAR: 19*9.5

Tire:
FRONT: ?
REAR: ?

go to search bro... i think this thread have been discuss... if not, then i would say that the answer lies within what you perceive as the proper tires...everyone got different sizes for style, uses, and etc...

Thanks for the reply. I did do a few searches but i haven't found too many answers. Maybe i'm just bad at searching forum sites.

The problem is that i can't just use any tire/wheel size combo because of the 4MATIC. There is a certain calculation to find out a staggered setup that will work safely without putting unwanted stress on the drivetrain.

I guess my real question is:

I'd like to run a 19'' staggered setup on my C300 4MATIC and am having a tough time finding a safe and working tire size setup. Has anybody ran a similar setup to what i'm trying to accomplish here that can enlighten me on proper fitment?

Is it really that hard to get a question answered here?

I've searched for the last few days on my free time to find the correct tire size. I can't use any generic setup since many wheel shops tell me they do not promote the use of staggered setup since it could be harmful for the 4MATIC drivetrain - however, people have opted to use staggered on their 4MATIC but they don't specify what tire size because they dont know!

This is the usual 19'' tire size for w204:
Front: 235/35/19
Rear: 255/30/19

HOWEVER, the overall diameter difference is rather high, and there is a certain number that the two sides have to be between. That is why this thread exists.

I think the right set up for the tires are either 225/35/19 F or 235/35/19F depending on the offset. For the Rear 255/30/19R or 265/30/19 again, depending onthe offset of the rims.

offset must be at least 45+ and anything less than 40 will be cause problem such as rubbing or wheel sticking outside the fender.

Try to play around with this calculator:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

If you can buy the wheels locally, i suggest that they should at least let you try to mount it even without the tire, this should give you a good visual whether you will have problem on a possible rubbing.

What kind of rims do you have in mind?

I have the same question as Lintrix. I am sure it has already been discussed but I cannot get a clear answer to the question.

I have a 2008 C300 4Matic and want to put these wheels on it. Will they work and if so, what is the recommended tire size?

Rims Size: 19 X 8.5" front 19 X 9.5" rear
Bolt Pattern: 5 X 112
Hub Size: 66.6
Lip Size: 0.5" front 2.5" lip rear
Offset: 42 mm front & 45 mm rear NEW C CLASS FITMENT

Thanks for any advice.

I think they will work... how they look on your car, i don't know... but it should look pretty sick though... the recommended tire size is what asianguy post... read it again...those are the size what most people who get 19 staggard go.. buy it and post the pic...lol

Correction....<-------I think it will work, however, I think there is a thread discussing about going or not going for a staggard setup for 19in for 4Matic...I think u should read that thread first before u come to your own conculsion about what u think your vision of your ride should be...

Asianguy: Funny thing is I am trying to run the exact same wheels as BLKSTALLION. Those are Monarch Euro 63s in 19*8.5 and 19*9.5.

I know that it would be so much more simple to run a non-staggered 19*8.5 all around setup, but it would be so crappy that us 4MATIC guys can't run a deeper lip in the back.

BURNT: I haven't come across that discussion thread yet, but i will keep looking. Thanks =)

Thanks for the help guys!

Rear tyre width

hey guys..

My car had recently been repaired after hitting a bad pothole.. after it returning from repairs i found that the rear tyre width are not according to standard which is 245/40/ 17
but is changed to the same tyres as the front 225/40/17(basically the same tyre in the back as in the front)

can anyone please educate me on whether the rear tyre width is a reason for the car to shudder at high speeds, and also a "humming" noise at low speeds?
thanks in advance.

Did you end up ordering this setup? How did it come out? Any issues?

I am planning on ordering a similar setup, and was just wondering if this worked out well for you.

Thanks!
