Quad Tips finally Installed! + c63 Diffuser (pics)
2 OEM c350 tips: $57 shipped
Used c63 Diffuser: $170 shipped
2 c63 Diffuser Brackets: $50 shipped
Labor to build custom Y Style Pipe and weld on all four tips: $280 (ouch)
Grand Total: $557 (How do you think I did? Good/bad/avg?)
Happy with the results, the rear end looks much more substantial and higher end now, while retaining the original OEM look.
Thanks to vaderSS and others who did this mod for all your helpful tips

got the diffuser used on this forum for a avg price... man people do not wanna sell these things for less than $150, i tried...
got the brackets from getmercedesparts.com, way cheaper than the dealership
got installed at local muffler shop... allignment is only about a 90 out of 100, but it is good enough to where only perfectionists like me who know would ever notice... it is about 2-3 hours of labor, so the price will range from 250-350 depending on where u go
Looks great For $557 that is soo worth it IMHO

Im so glad i havent purchased the cf rear diffuser for the dual exhaust yet ... spec davis is getting this mod done soon i believe and ill simply follow in his footsteps. He's gonna find a muffler shop first and once he's done i will more than likely get it done as well yay !!!

Wow that looks badass as hell. So the diffuser was only 170?? Not only lol, but I don't know how much that part usually goes for. Was it easy to install cause I was thinking about getting one?

Ya man it's pretty easy to install the diffusser... Remove 2 bolts and 2 torx screws, then just pop out the tabs to seperate it from the bumper that's it
no difference in sound with the routing, no gain or loss in performance... Purely cosmetic

That looks really awsome!
I've been thinking for a while to do the same thing and now that I seen your car, I better get it done asap. lol
Anyhow, what are C63 Diffuser Brackets? how do they look like? why is it used?
And for your diffusuer, you didn't get CF diffuser?

Very, very nice! I generally don't like the protruding AMG bumper - but with a lid spoiler to offset it and nice quads it looks the business.

Welding
Speedway muffler in Roland Heights! I told em Frank referred me to their shop and they knocked off $20 Frank got his quad tips done here too and they looked really good so I went with his recommendation. It took their guy about 2 1/2 hours to do the job since it was his first time doing something like this... The guy Martin who did Franks tips was busy with something else so at first I was nervous the new guy was gonna screw up my allignment but he ended up doing a pretty acceptable job (90% perfect i would say) so I am cool with it...
Speaking of the welding though, as far as the inside of the tips look, I am not sure if this is normal or not, but can anybody tell me if they are supposed to look like this (see pic below)? They had to cut the back of the tips to make them fit of course, so you can kind of see through them and can really see the ugly custom "y style" pipe they made when u get down on your hands and knees and look real close... They painted the inside part of the y pipe black to make it stand out less so you cant really notice it when looking inside from a few feet away when level, but u can still definitely tell there are two pieces connected...
is this how everybody elses inner quad tip looks after welding to the custom y pipe????

ya i was thinking the same thing... but u cant even tell unless or down on your hands and knees so whatever...
curious though, what could they have done to hide the gap more?? Were they supposed to add a tapered extension piece that matches the hole on the original tip and then taper it down gradually to the y pipe instead of leaving it all hollow??? did i get ripped?

thats normal for this type of y-pipe. you can get them to patch up the empty space for additional cost. i just did it myself with piping putty. it dries as hard as steel and so far after 5 months, no issues. I think tanktube, being more handy then me, made templates from sheet metal and had it welded on.
