A very simple answer ..... stop you right foot from shaking with fear or keep under 100 mph/ Hr.

Should be easy if you value your life & other road users.

Assuming you're referring to a private kingdom/road, what's the rpm like when this happens? jerking felt where: gearbox, steering wheel? engine temp all fine?

ok, i know this might be obvious, but you havent got winter speed limit on by anychance?

so the car feels like it wants to "pull" but nothing happens? rev stays the same? have you gone into paddle shift mode, is it in 5th gear?

i cant see why MB wont deal with this. you can say you have a private road and speed limits dont apply. they can put it on a rolling road if they need to.

No need for that. sometimes comments are just said in jest and appear much worse than they are on a forum. bit like that " objects are nearer than they seem" stickers some cars have on their wing mirrors...no wait that is a crap analogy :-)

Problem with your car jerking....well make sure to tell it that it can go blind if it keeps doing that....that should stop it...

Ok now for something that may be helpful....Is MB looking for causes for the problem or are they just blowing you off, saying you shouldn't be driving that fast? If you place the transmission in a lower gear, does it do the same thing at a lower speed?

i've tried to put in lower gear but wont change gear, the revs do slow down as the car struggles to pick up speed. asked mb for rolling road but they have refused. tried to explain to them that it feels like a gearbox error but nothing they can do as not picked up by computer. even if i say its a private road they will not test at those speeds.

oh man i am sad, baby keeping me awake.. so i'll comment..

i'm not suprised that the car wont drop a gear at that speed. was just an idea to see if the display showed fifth gear. in that case, there's a huge amount of variables. fuel pump, dirty carb. exhaust. have you tried being in first gear and giving it some serious welly (aggressive acceleration?). you might even see black smoke coming out the back as it clear. thought the only time this happened to me was with an older car and you'd notice the problem way under 100mph. i'm going by old school ideas here, given MB wont help you. modern cars have so many sensors, any of them could be preventing the speed pickup. actually the fact that the revs dont increase isnt necessarily a bad thing. something is obviously telling it not (sensor). however, i'd expect some fault code to register.

did you check to see if winter speed limit was on?? i think a light comes on the cruise control stalk if it is on? again though, MB would have spotted this.

you need expert advice unless you beleive MB didnt even do a diagnostic? A diagnostic scanner OBD scanner would at least put your mind at rest that arent at faults. most garages should have one, or ebay has them.

i can kind of see where MB dealership is coming from. however, i'd fire off a letter to MB HQ. they dont really have a leg to stand on to say they wont repair the fault. it;s not beyond the complete realms of imagination that you could be forced to do a 100mph to complete an overtake on a motorway if the situation demanded it. However, how are you going to present the case? i'd suggest pointing out that you are allowed to take your own car on track (driver safety days) or something?

Jeez, what a bunch of worthless posts. I liked the one about a dirty carb, considering this is a diesel.

When accellerating at full throttle, does the engine reach redline in every gear but top gear? If it does, then it's acting like it has a speed limiter such as US market cars are saddled with. My C300, for example, is limited to 130mph by the limiter even though it could finally top out at around 150mph otherwise.

Yes - on a diesel its known as a governor in English.

For those "********s" (Aus term) on this thread you should lighten up. This is a Global forum & you don't understand Australian humour.

Aaaaaah , a psychoanalyst would have a field day looking at these postings.

Regarding your "Jerking " problem why not try another MB dealer workshop more in tune to your problem eg a sports motoring enthusiast.
