WOW! Raped by Dealer Tire Sensor!
I have MB symbol valve cap. I went to check tire pressure as the light has been recently indicating and I snapped the valve stem since the cap was so tight. I went to the dealer they replaced it for $310. DAMNNNNNN Good things I have a normal sensor in one tire whcih I had Midas do as well as the other 2 will need to get done since the valve caps are the MB logo. Any way to get it cheaper? Thanks

LOADED 08' C350 & 14' GLK-350 Diamond White (P1, MM, AMG Pkg, Ln Trkng, Htd Sts, Keylss Go)
dude this just happened to me i found out tonight too!!
i was checking my tire pressure and I saw that my front left tire valve cap was missing and there were no threads on the stem and the valve pin was sticking out far!!! what the heck, i am thinking this must have happened at my b service on friday at fletcher jones newport beach, but the mechanic didnt mention anything and my car has been in the garage all weekend!!!
310 is insane, i am contacting my dealer right away and trying to get them to take responisbility cus i am sure it happened there...
as i clean check my rims/tires weekly and would have noticed if something happened, i am crazy obsessive like that...

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
Do not use metal valve stem caps. I know a few people who have had problems removing them after the threads on the valve stem oxidized. Some sort of reaction occurs. I am not even sure if anti-seize grease would prevent it. I thought MB cheaped out with the plastic caps, but apparently there is a reason for using them.

It sucks that they sell them for the car but you can't use them. I should ask corporate to see if they can do something about it. It is wrong. Can someone help me find the correct sensors from tirerack to work with the 08 CClass Sport sensors I am having difficulty finding the correct ones.. Thanks

Tirerack does sell the sensors for cheaper but even if you bought the OEM part from the dealer and went to a tire shop you would still come out much cheaper than $310. I believe it cost me around $35 to have the sensor installed. It''s not any different than a normal dismount and tire mount charge.
I also had 2 of my valve stems ruined from the metal OEM caps. I actually cut one of my last frozen caps off with my dremel to save from another ruined sensor and the cost involved.
