Correct HID vertical height measurement

I have tried searching this answer everywhere. With the stock xenon, I am trying to figure out what is the correct vertical height for our hid. Originally it was measured at 21in. with the car being 25ft away from a flat wall. I measure my TSX is it nearly about 25in. I also notice that my MB doesnt have that same distance either, it more focus to the ground. Should they all be the same height if they are all DOT. Thanks

Are the headlights at the same physical heights to start with? NO. So which car is positioned correctly? There is a definite angle relationship to adjustment. Otherwise an 18-wheeler, a school bus, etc would be producing constant complaints about available visibility or blinding.

Does that mean that every car will have a different height. I though that was one of the ways that a car aiming can be done manually, by the height of the cutoff point and about 25 ft aways from a wall.

Yes. Its all in relationship to the starting height of the headlamp. The point is to maintain the correct angle.

So, is there a correct a measurement I should measure downward from the peak cutoff point. I dont just want to blind on comming traffice by aiming too high either. Anyone one with stock xenon have measure there before?????

Ok, so Amdeutsch, correct me if i am wrong here. If the car center headlight is measured 20 inches from the ground to the center of the lowbeam headllight lenses, then it should be adjust vertically to 20 inches from a 25ft distance on a wall. Am I getting this or completely off here?

Can anyone confirm this with me, orginally it was right around 21" measuring downward from the cut off peak, I brough it to the dealer and they said it was correct, but it seems so low with no distance. Does each manufacuture have their opinions on where to set their headlights?

Rule of thumb, as posted at high-intensity.org, is 2" down at 25', i.e. if the distance from the ground to the center of your projector is, say, 20", at 25', the cuttoff on the wall should be at 18".

The white knob on the headlight assembly on a non-P2, does that raise and lower the cutoff?

The adjustment for left-right is blocked off, That goes for most headlight in the US. Ok, I measure our headlights and with the P2 headlight it has a line in the middle across the projector, I am assuming that is the middle point. the middle point is measure at 25 inches or very close. Does that mean the correct angle should be 23 inches measuring downward from 25 ft. away from the wall? Just as a comparison, I also measure my TSX, it about 26 inches from ground to middle of projector, and it measure about 26-27 inces measuring downward from 25ft away from the wall. Is that right or is my TSX just aim to high from the factory?
