Some quick pics of my new MRR GT-1 wheels and ballast/resistor mounting under hood

Hey guys, just got my car back from the tire shop. It's raining here in NJ today and these are with my crappy cell phone.

I literally came home to post these, and I am off to my other shop to get an estimate on painting the grill black (flat black slates) glossy black on the chrome, my carlsson style CF front lip, and my painted amg trunk lip.

Also, I know I need to get my windows tinted. I am waiting to go through inspection.

But here are some quick pics of the wheels AND 2 pics of the driver and passenger side wheel wells under the hood where I mounted the resistors and the ballasts with 3M tape. Its holding well and no issues. If you notice on the passenger side I made the tape under it, so incase it fell it would catch onto the other tape. But haven't had an issue they are holding well.

Side note: you can kind of see the HID lighting as well in some of the pics. And the wheels are front: 18x8.5 ET45 with 225/40/18 and rears 18x9.5 ET48 on 255/35/18. Tires are Pirelli P Zero Nero All-Seasons.

Driver side:

Passenger side:

Enjoy.

I got my DDM kit on Wednesday. They don't give you any 3m tape. They give you 2 crappy foam tape pads.

Thanks for the pictures of where you mounted them. I guess I'll mount them there too.

I bought this tape at Lowe's. http://www.environmentallights.com/p...unting_tape_60 But I saw this tape at Wal-Mart. http://www.amazon.com/3M-4011-Extent.../dp/B0016P6A2A

Should I return the one from Lowe's and get the one from Wal-Mart?

I bought the DDM kit as well with the Cancelers and got the 2 foam tape too. I went out and bought a small roll Industrial Velcro from Home Depot. I gotta say that thing holds like its got a kung fu grip on the ballast. Mounted mine around the same area as the OP and it hasn't budged since.

The one you bought at Lowe's should be good enough to hold. Just make sure you clean the surface very well before laying down the tape.

The amazon link is what I used after I used the foam pads.

Thanks everyone.

I was at my painter and installer today.

The trunk spoiler and front lip along with painting my grill will go down on the 30th! I also have an extra taillight cause mine cracked, on the cracked one we are going to experiment with painting the red on our lights black. 1 coat 1st and then 2 coats and see if we can see through it well. I'll keep everyone posted. The DDM kit has very nice thin ballasts. The 3m thin double sided tape in the 2nd link worked well.

omg i know! I love driving with just the fog light hids on when its cloudy! LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!

Hey if any NY/NJ guys needs the hid kits installed, my buddy did mine for me. Hes a certified mechanic on euros and domestics. He does great work. He did my install for me. He can also install any grills, basically anything. He also is very very very reasonable with pricing. Let me know if anyone needs their HIDs in fogs installed its a pain, but he mastered it on mine. He did the 2nd side in 1/4 of the time, he knows just what to do.

Elaine your close, if you want your fogs done PM me (don't know if you have them or not).. The kit comes to $70 + shipping.. he'd probably only charge $50-$70 for foglight install, and its a 150% upgrade!

Velcro...I never thought of that!
That's a good idea. I might look into this.

.
I thought with AM HID kits, you don't get as much light projected down the road as the H7s? My car didn't come with xenons and I just threw on some Silverstar Utras but I am really missing HIDs since all my cars since 1999 had them with the exception of the C63.

Yea I figured if I ever needed to move the ballast to get to something around it I could just pull the ballast off and when i'm done put it back haha.

Wow $60K plus ride and still no HID's ?? What's wrong with that picture !?!? Heck my sister has a 2006 TSX and it came standard with HIDs but then again i guess i'd rather have 400 plus HPs and no HIDs than a TSX ......with all due respect to all the TSX owners out there
