Need Help Please. Wheel Fitment.

Hi, I'm currently running 17" AMGs on my C350 and trying to find the perfect fit to replace these.
I am trying to decide between 18/8.5/ET45 front and 18/9.5/ET50
or 18/8.5/ET50 front and 18/9.5/ET54(I believe this offset is same as the 18" AMGs)
Which one would be the best fit? Even after lowering?

The current 17" (ET47 front and ET58?) seems too stuck inward of the car so I would like a wider setup but not too wide which the wheels will stick out of the fenders.

Please. I've been researching for hours on this so any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Offsets

If you stick with an offset of 44/45 all round you can't go wrong.

The lower the offset the more poke you will have (in simple terms). If you stick to the 40-45 range you should sit pretty flush. Or if you're crazy like me and run 35/40....

You'll be fine as long as the fronts are in the 40's. The rears are ok at 53 as well but may stick out a bit. Nothing a fender roll can't fix

I'm running 19 x 8.5 Front 43mm / 19 x 9.5 rear 53mm
but I've rolled my fenders just incase I'd like to go lower then my current ride height.

Hope that helps narrow it down.

i've always been confused on how offset works, So the higher the offset, the more it will stick out or is it back wards?

Would you guys know if rims from an SL55 would fit on our cars, I found a really good deal on some chrome ones.

The higher the offset, the more it will shove into the wheel well.

For example, c300 wheels in the rear are et57. My w202 rear standard is et32. ASSUMING that the wheel widths are the same, if i put c300 wheels on my w202, the new wheels will sit in my car 20mm further inside the wheel well. Then from there problems may arise: the wheel could be so far in that there is no clearance; the inner wheel will rub against the control arm, ball joints, etc. Hence the reason for spacers.

I hope that makes sense, tried to explain it as simple as possible..

Thanks Pinoc, Ok so these SL55 rims, there oem et is around 33-35, something like that. So does that mean if they go on a C, then it would be to far in and need spacers, or will they stick out too far looking like a low rider

For the c300, they would more than likely stick out if anything. But i won't gaurantee that, it could also be a good fitment. I'm ASSUMING you're running OEM wheels, and that the wheel widths are the same between your oem and sl55 wheels.

If that's the case, then the wheel will be about 14mm further out in the front, and 23mm further out in the back. Alot of this is based on assumption as i said, because i do not know the wheel ET you currently have, the widths of your current wheels, the widths of the SL55 wheels.

Yea, I am currently just on stock 17" right now with staggered fitment. I guess if that the case with with the sl55 wheels, then it might be looking like a low rider , lolz. Thanks Pinoc

It's going to stick out at those offsets and if you're lowered, it's going to rub on sit, damage fender and tire on your first pothole at speed. I tried to toss on my bro's spare stock SL55 stock wheel when I sent off one of my wheels to get refinished.

tires are 225/35/19f 255/30/19r. Wheel offsets I'll let you know as soon as DPE finishes making my new fronts, but they're 8.5 and 9.5 widths.

It is very confusing. Think of it like this: If the mounting surface of your wheel is even with the centerline of the wheel, you have zero offset. The car's hub and the wheel's mounting surface meet in the center of the wheel. Our cars have positive offset. For example, 50mm positive offset means that our wheels have a mounting surface that moves away from the wheel's centerline and toward the street by 50mm. Adding a 5mm spacer to the mounting surface of that wheel would actually reduce the distance between the centerline and the wheel's mounting surface by 5mm and make the offset positive 45mm. Since the wheel remains the same (width), the street side of the wheel is pushed out further toward the street.

Reducing positive offset moves the wheel out toward the street.

The face of a 9" wide wheel with a positive 32mm offset vs 50mm offset will be pushed toward the street an additional 18mm.

I hope I didn't confuse you.

I'll give you the same advice some of the guys at vipstylecars like to toss around...

Buy the wheels you want...then make them fit!

If you want to run low offset (anything from 30-39) and lower it, then do so. But you're going to have to do some adjusting...probably a fender roll/pull and maybe adjust camber.

As for me I'm about to try and run +40 front and +35 rear, the results could be disastrous but we'll see!
