The Future of Mercedes-Benz Revealed

Looks like we're getting plenty of Turbos. Personally i'd prefer a NA engine so hopefully that 3.5L V6 will be available with 4Matic.
What do you guys think?

The US won't get the new engines until your fuel sulphur drops substantially. So the good old engines will be available your side for a while yet.

I don't know about that. The Audi and Porsche U.S. models have Direct-Injection already so there's no real reason Mercedes wouldn't get them too.

With current CAFE and soon CO2 regulations, they have no choice but to bring these kinds of engines in, as well as reducing the weight of the cars (but hopefully not the safety).
That's why my next car is a pre-owned W221 - the V8 engine will be a distant memory 10 years from now outside of the pre-owned market.

The US is going to have to sort out it's gas & go to higher clean fuel specs which means it will become more expensive. Even if they started now it would take a while to upgrade the refineries & this has not started.
Audi & Porche are having big trouble with DI engines on US fuel - Here's a low mileage Cayenne's inlet

There is a big reason - which is why the US has the new E with old engines. MB use three way Cat converters to meet Euro emissions which produce Benzines at the tailpipe with too much sulphur in the fuel.

I mean from everything i've read you're quite knowledgeable on Mercedes-Benz models in general so what's your take on what's happening next year? If we look at the competition Mercedes cars obviously are down on both torque and horsepower so do you think that they'll at least increase the power output somewhat for these engines or possibly bring Twin-Turbo V6's without DI?

As far as I know Audi, Porsche and BMW use Direct Injection and it is listed on their website if you want to check for yourself.

Older engines from all the German manufacturers inject into the port pre valve. DI engines inject into the combustion chamber like a modern diesel. Higher pressures - better atomisation - improved fuel economy & emissions.
Benz DI engines carry an inlet detergent tank that injects detergent into the inlet system that requires refilling at every service.
I don't know what Benz is going to do for markets like SA & the US (and many others in Asia etc.) until we get our refineries updated. Reverse engineering the vehicle to run on crap fuel makes no sense when they have a range of perfectly serviceable engines available. I suspect old engines will be maintained until everyone catches up with Europe, Australia etc. Maybe with some minor development. SA is 3 years from meeting Euro low sulphur specs. None of the majors in the US have started on their refineries because I think it needs to be legislation driven so they can increase fuel prices.
The Twin Turbo V6's use 3 way Cats
VW/Audi/Porsche I think will be forced into some redesign of captive breather systems, better oil control & probably some form of detergent injection. They can't go on with the mess in that pic above.
Benz is testing all sorts of new vehicles here at the moment but all under heavy wraps & no one is talking.

So let's say they keep the engines around. Do you think they'll at least increase the horsepower or torque figures?
I mean they must do something right? Audi has that 2.0T which produces 211hp and 258lb-ft of torque and they appear to still be faster than our C300s from what i've read.
I know the SLK350 has 300hp from its V6 and it definitely isn't DI.
