SIRUS SAT RENEWAL

Hi all

Just got an invoice for Serius renewal and they have quoted me 13 months for $178.20 and 29 months for $306.50.

Has anyone negotiated with Sirus and recieved lower fees.

Before I call and renew I thought maybe some one has had a better deal from them.

thanks

I think a couple of guys got 1 year subscriptions for around $70-$80. My trail expired a few months ago and I figured I could live without Sirus but I am beginning to experience withdrawals.

Ask if the lifetime subscription is available. It has been offered in the past for either $399 or $499. There have been restrictions on transferring it. In all cases you are allowed to transfer it to a replacement radio in the same vehicle for free. At times, the subscription contained terms that allowed up to 3 transfers for a fee of $75 for each transfer.

The lifetime subscription, even with the restriction of no transfers to another vehicle, is worthwhile if you plan on keeping your vehicle for more than 3 years.

Actually if you push them on this, since they changed the rules numerous times since inception, you will be able to transfer it to a plug and play for a fee. Keep in mind that they will charge ST on that fee. Going to a plug and play will allow you to enjoy it in more vehicles.

Some of you may or may not be aware that Sirius was free for two weeks during the month of November in hopes of stiring up some new sales. They even offered previous customers five months for twenty bucks (which works out to be four dollars a month). After the five months the price would return to the normal thirteen dollars a month, but with the way they have been hurting, I'm sure you could get it for less than that.

I renewed a couple of months ago. I believe it was around $118 for a year. I beat them up pretty good trying to get the $88 and they wouldnt budge.

I got the lifetime membership for $399 (was a special discount... normally $499). Either way, I think its well worth it to not have to worry about paying anymore. By the way - I should mention that they allow you to transfer it up to 3 times to different receivers. In no way would they know from the receiver SID number that it was a different car, or the same car, so you really could potentially have your lifetime subscription for quite a long time - through three cars if you don't have to replace your radio at some point...

To be clear - when you get your next car (lease or buy, whatever), just call them up and say that the dealer replaced your radio and it has a new SID. Tell them the ID, and boom - they think your still in your old car :-).

I think I did the math once and the lifetime membership was roughly 3 years of payments... after that your making out with savings. Plus, look at it as a one-time expensive... like purchasing a radio or a mod - and your done!

I purchased Lifetime for $425 in 2005 for my portable unit and I have been contemplating doing the same for the rest of the units I have. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I might.

This is what you do:
"Hi, my friend just got Sirius and it was $77 for the year and I'm calling to get the same deal".

When I called I think I got Indian tech support and she said: Sure, we can do that. They added a music fee for a couple of dollars more and I renewed a week ago for a total of $83 for the year. The above was my exact conversation with them - of course they asked for my credit card.

So there was no begging, not hard tactics, immediately she said OK. Try it.
