(NEWB) Question on HID's?
I was wondering if someone has the time to explain how to change the eyelids,lowbeams and fogs to hid's. I wanted to go 8000k for all but i was wondering if someone could let me know what brand to use which bulbs etc. I want to do this the cheapest way possible so please help! RHANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCED!

Eyelids can't be HIDs. They can be either something like PolarGs which are halogen bulbs, or LEDs (SMDs). But on a more...related note, all of the how to's can be found here. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-together.html

DDM HID kit seems to be the most common and reliable on this forum. I have a DDM kit myself, and it works flawlessly. Never had a problem with the kit itself. DDM's error cancellors are required. Low beams and fogs are H7 on the sports model. There are no guides for the low beams, but there is a guide that uses a custom bulb holder for fogs in the previously linked thread. The install is pretty straightforward, and the online instructions on DDM's site were very useful when installing mine.
Eyelids use 194 bulbs. Some use LEDs, but there have been reports of the LEDs burning the eyelids. Most replace the eyelid bulbs with Polarg M4 bulbs. Google it, and you can buy in bundles on ebay. 2 bulbs are needed for each eyelid, and there is a DIY in the previously linked thread.
Did I miss anything? Haha.

i see for the eyelids it uses a t10 bulb i want to change out my sidemarker aswell can someone varify which one it is? Also I see you have the bright LED has anyone used that blue led for the eyelid? And its simple to install corrrect? Thanks

T10 is a type of SMD. What you're looking for is the W5W, which, the one that I linked you, is. But there is a different LED that has one LED on either side of the PCB, and that's two bucks cheaper, so that can be used for your sidemarkers if needed. That's what I plan on doing at least.

I'm new here too and had a similar question about HID's. Don't mean to hijack your thread or anything but I did a search and couldn't find anything and didn't see the point in starting a new thread.
Anyway, my question was whether it was possible to do a HID retrofit with the stock C300 HID's and if so would how extensive of a job it would be and if the dealer would be able to do it or any competent indie shop for that matter?

You can either do a simple bulb swap (where you can use a brand like luminics or philips) or get an HID kit. A lot of people do either one and most "Competent Indie Shops" should be able to do it.

He's not talking about a simple bulb swap or HID conversion. He's talking about retrofitting projectors on a C300 that already has bixenons. I don't really see a point in that. It wouldn't be a HUGE improvement.

Oh. o_o. Yeah I'm with Richard then. It wouldn't be a huge improvement at all. My sister has the C350 without P2 but with aftermarket bulbs and I have a C350 with P2. Comparing em side by side you can barely notice the difference.

Actually I don't already have bi-xenons, I have the halogens. I made the mistake of not getting them to begin with and I'm really regretting it right now. Sorry if I wasn't clear before, what I meant was if it was possible to get my halogens swapped for the OEM bixenons. thanks in advance.

You'd have to buy the whole headlight assembly. I saw the number $1,500 while researching it. I can't remember if it's for the whole set or each headlight. I think each headlight. Expensive.

For the Eyelid and Side Marker, either go with Led w/w capacitor or M4 Polarg 194.

I suggest LEDs. I bought polarG's this weekend at an asian market for 6 bucks. Plopped em into my sidemarkers. They're okay, but LEDs would look much better.

Polargs at an Asian market? I've heard of people getting them from Chinatown, but never an Asian market. I'll have to look for them next time I'm at one!

I've been seeing them wherever I go. To be exact I bought mine in a little stationery store inside an asian market. Places I've seen PolarG's at are....Mitsuwa, KTown Galleria, Fancy Plus, and this one other asian market that I can't recall. Most Korean/Japanese places carry them in random shops, thinking maybe a car modder will come along into a stationery store/gift shop looking for them. I guess they're right? Chances are, if you find a place that's Asian that sells asian car air fresheners, PolarGs will be somewhere in that area. Haha. No guarantees though. In LA it's pretty wide in terms of ethnic diversity.

The reason I wanted to swap for the OEM bi xenons was because in my experience bulb swaps and plug n play kits usually don't do anything in terms of light output but at the same time are incredibly blinding to the people in front of me.

Any tinted halogen bulb will actually produce less lumens than a non-tinted halogen bulb at the same wattage level. Also, don't believe anything that says a 55w bulb outputs an equvalent of anything other than a 55w bulb using the same technology.
Xenon, or HID lighting will produce roughly 3x the light output at 35w that a 55w halogen bulb will. It's important to remember, that to truly take advantage of all the extra light output a properly engineered reflector or even better, a projector is used with a xenon bulb. Putting a xenon kit into a halogen reflector housing can have very mixed results and can sometimes end up with uneven lighting, hot spots, and other undesirable lighting effects.

I have put the CV in my fogs as they do look nicer, but the stock halogens do light the ground more. It is also more distinctive if you have xenons because of the different color in light.

So that means that the CV doesn't light up the ground as much as the stock halogens? Don't have xenons so yea..
