Ipod integration question

I have an 08 C350, and the only way u can control the ipod is through the steering wheel on the dashboard. but for the 2010 models I believe u can control the ipod through the nav screen. Is there anyway I could get mine to be controlled on the nav? maybe a nav update?? thanks in advance

The only way I know of to control an iPod through the nav screen is to have the universal media interface ( UMI ) installed. It is expensive but includes navigation, bluetooth streaming, and the ability to play music from a USB thumb drive. Here is some more information :

Probably not the answer you were looking for but I hope that helps...

Another option to consider is an aftermarket solution. I was considering one of the Dension gateway units. I haven't looked into much detail about it yet though.

Are the 2010 COMAND systems different? My old school Nano drops all of the songs right into the COMAND and I can scroll through it just as if I were using the iPod.

Looks like the thread is confused between the iPod interface kit and the media interface option. MI supports iPods and allows control from Comand. I'm not familiar with the MI compatibility with early Comand head units but I would not be surprised if it was (it just doesn't come with early cars because it did not exist then and anyway is basically an option even if it was standard for current US cars).
