2008 C300 (Sport) Basics
I just purchased my first MB (2008 C300) a few weeks ago and I love driving it but I was hoping I could get a quick run down of its features. I bought it used from an Acura dealership and the salesperson knew absolutely nothing about the car.
Any insight is greatly appreciated:
1. How do I turn off the daytime running lights? Not sure what the switches do but there are several clicks/options with the same result.
2. Do the side view mirrors fold in? If so, how.
3. The ipod adapter doesn't work with my iphone. Is this common?
4. The switch from auto to manual mode (C/S?) - I can switch from auto to manual but it seems the only way to switch back to auto is to put the car in neutral and then back to drive. Seems odd.
5. The bluetooth feature doesn't seem to work with my iphone. Is this common? Starting to think it's my phone and not the car. At least I hope so.
Any other "cool" features that any of you can share with me? I've read through bits and pieces of the owners manual but I was hoping I'd get some "real life" feedback from MB owners. Thanks.

First of all, congrats on the new car and welcome to the forum! Second, amdeutsch is spot on...use the advanced search tool and you can easily answer all of your questions. I think all of your questions would likely be answered in a week or two of driving around and "tinkering" anyhow.

The c/s on the 2008 model stand for comfort and sport....which is something of a misnomer.
What it actually does is change the shift points and changes whether your car starts in 1st gear (sport) or 2nd gear(comfort). You're not suppose to change the setting while the car is moving. Come to a stop, then change it.
Now in some newer models, there is also an advanced agility control but this does not apply to the 2008 C300.
Congrats on the new car.

1) You can use the steering wheel to change the settings through the multidisplay screen in the instrument cluster. (For details see the manual I posted for you)
2) I believe the side view mirrors should fold. Not sure on 08. There should be a button in the middle between the left and right selection near the left side mirror. This can be done manually or set to automatic through the multidisplay settings. Again for details see the manual I post.
3) Don't have an iphone or even my car yet to test this.
4) That is odd...when you switch the gear UP in manual mode, just hold it there and it will switch to drive. Or you can just keep hitting up to get to D7 and then D. Holding the gear selector is much easier.
5) Can't help you with bluetooth.
HERE is the 2008 manual in case you don't have one.
You can more secrets for the W204 HERE.
Hope all this helps.

The W204 works fine with an iPhone. However, it will not charge the phone in the standard configuration. The car is set up to charge on the firewire line. About the time the car was released from design Apple changed from firewire charging to USB charging. You can have MB install a USB charging iPod adapter, but it will cost you. Or, you can buy a Scosche Passport to convert it for about $25.
The bluetooth also works fine with the iPhone. Make sure your bluetooth is on on the iPhone (Settings > General > Bluetooth).

And by WORKING with the iphone, it means that if connected via BLUETOOTH, the phone feature will work, if connected via the cable in the ipod connector, then it won't charge but will work as an ipod, but the phone is then OFF.

When I get a call, the music stops, and I can answer and talk on my phone via bluetooth (while its still plugged into the ipod adapter in the glovebox). As soon as I end the call, my music starts playing again. Works really well.

you must have an '09+ with the MHI center and not the standard nav/command console? Or maybe the black connector?
with the WHITE ipod connector, the device will throw errors and say, "not supported" etc. It also won't charge, and interfacing with the device for ipod control won't work. Yes, I think one can interface with it via the steering wheel controls and I guess if it is paired with bluetooth already and it allows the ipod out then it should make/receive calls. My bad.
It won't charge though, I think only the black cable will charge - and that might break the interface, no?

Thanks for all of your responses. Especially those who took the time to answer my specific questions.
I have a feeling I will be spending a great deal of time on this site learning about my new ride...not only because I just purchased my first MB but hopefully, it won't be my last.
Thanks again.
