New w204 C250 owner frm the far east

Hi folks, I'm a new owner of a 2010 C250 CGI in Hong Kong, I guess you guys dun hv this model in america. Or will it come out in America?
Engine is a 1.8 turbo 4-cylinder with 204hp. I was really looking to get a C350 last yr but when the new C250 came out this yr, I just hv to buy this. I knw it's not as powerful as the V6 C300 or 350, but i think the turbo has alot of potential, not to mention it's 2/3 the price and it saves on gas.

My question is, do you think it will be a popular choice if they offer this model in the states?

We've got a C250 in Canada, but it comes with a 2.5L V6. In general, people in North America do not like the idea of a premium vehicle with a 4-cylinder engine, even if it's turbocharged. That's one of the reasons Audi A4 does not sell as well as the 3-series and the C-Class.

Audi has been proving that given enough power, a turbo four can make it in the States. Most of us grew up on cheap gas and larger displacement engines and prefer to stick with what we know, but that will soon be changing...and fast. Gas prices are likely to be climbing over the next few years but what will really push the chane is that our CAFE regulations are going to require automakers to greatly increase their fleet MPG averages. I wouldn't doubt that we may be seeing that exact engine soon in the States.

grats on your purchase. Hope you enjoy her

turbo 4s can make it in the US, but it's not an easy road. 6s are generally perceived as minimum for luxury brands. They brought the 4 banger 203 stateside, so wouldn't be surprised to see 4 banger 204s.

Woostar - Congratulations.

I know you must be enjoying that car. People would buy that car here, yes. We'll see more economic choices in the future as people here started to care a bit more finally about consumption of oil, not everyone, but some.

I drove 4 cylinder diesels in C class and E Class last summer in Europe, and they drive beautifully. Honestly, I did not for one second wish I had a V6 or gasoline. They performed and drove like all Mercedes I have ever driven.

The engines they offer in America are really just to compete with the competitors who offer similar engines.

The true enjoyment of the car comes that they are all W204 chassis, drive great, comfortable, and I should mention again drives not great, but beautifully. Enjoy it. It's a great car!

hello! woo and everyone, i am also from Hong Kong and i am the owner of a 2010 c250 cgi Sport with dymanic handling package. It is better balanced ( between comfort and handling)than my previous A4 B7 2.0T.

FYI my mechanic told me our cars have the same turbo as Audi A4! (kkk k03), so yes this engine has a lot of potential

It gives very smooth ride in comfort mode and firms up nicely when needed ( press the sport button ), i bet the electronic suspension gives a smoother ride than the non electronic one.

woo, which colour is your car? mine one is palldaium silver with optional sunroof.

here is my car with C63 19inch alloys

surprised to know that MB calls a 1.8L engine a 250.
I have a '09 c230 in India, which is a 2.5L V6, and for '10 MB had renamed it c250, not a CGI version.
wondering how they come up model names, reminds me of the older 190's which had different engines and were still called 190.

Mine's white w/o sunroof. Love ur wheels btw. I agree that C350 is not worth the price in HK, but with our price tag of our C250, we couldve gotten a C63 in the state?

i like white too, i think is great colour for c-class

but since no stock available with sunroof ( need to order) so i choose pallidum silver in the end.

for C250 money in hk yes we could get a C63 in the states.

I would buy it in a heartbeat if it cost the same here

Hey folks, I'm from Hong Kong as well. Woostar/Sailexc250, could you please confirm the base price of the C250 CGI to be 470,000 HKD? For that price does it come with both the AMG sports (body kit) and dynamic handling package as standard or did those options increase the cost?

It seems quite strange that it would come with the AMG sports and dynamic handling package when the C200 CGI and those two options combined would add up to be the same price. I recently placed an order on a C200 CGI on Wednesday and now I want to see if I can change it to a C250 if it does indeed come with those options and is the same price anyway.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks a lot.

BTW: Sup Eric?

This is also the answer i want to seek for months... Some sales said it does not include the amg package for cars which are made in year 2010, but other said it does include amg package...
it is very strange as the 2010 price list contains 3 models for c250cgi, which are elegance , AV, and sports edition, all of them are selling at 473k.
The AV spec does not include amg package , but sunroof is standard, which makes sport edition the best buy as amg package with dymanic sport button is an 22.5k+ tax options whereas sunroof is $12.5k + tax options for sport edition. you can do the math by yourself.

therefore i suspect the sport editions is the leftover stock for dec2009/jan2010 allocations. you may not be able to order it anymore.

Sports package with dynamic handling is actually $30,500 and with tax it's a whopping $54,900. It's a crazy deal, I feel ripped off for choosing the C200 CGI now! I better have a chat with my dealer. It's also strange that the AV version comes with a sunroof. Thanks a lot for the info!

Does the C250 CGI get near 45mpg, as I have seen advertised?

In the US we have/had the E320 3L Turbo diesel, with 0-60 listed at 6.6 sec's by MB.
