Thinking about CPO'd 2008 - ?'s
Hi gang, I'm thinking about picking up a 2008 CPO'd C300 Sport 4matic.
Here's the vehicle:
http://2251.ecarlist.com/web/2251/ve...ition_id=10426
It's about a 3 hour drive for me to go see it.
1) Any input on a reasonable offer I should make if it drives well/is in good condition?
2) Any specific things I should look for or ask?
I've only ever bought new so I really don't know what to look for/ask.
Thanks!
KF

The car fax looks pretty good. Shows services (which they most often don't even when they are serviced).
Nov 2007 purchase it looked like? So you'd have factory warranty until Nov 2011. Plus, if it is CPO, they will give you a CPO warranty 1 year after the original expires.
Plus, being a CPO, you can add two more years on top of that, for $1900 about I think. Do note, you can add that later the last time I checked for a small penalty.
CPOs can be a pretty good deal due to the warranty and the more affordable extension offer (it's much more money to extend warranty on a car you bought new).
Just make sure the car drives and looks the way you want it.
I suppose you might also check the tires depth and see if it has had any brake pads replaced.
With regards to pricing, I'm not the best to know. I'd suspect it would ideally sell for several thousand less than that price they have on it though.

I bought my CLK as a CPO from a dealer that was several hours away. The tires, brakes, and mats were new, and it had just been serviced. The car was in extraordinarily good condition. However, I had seen CPO vehicles whose condition was not as good. I paid for two extra years of CPO, bringing me to 3 years/100K. The extra years of CPO coverage are negotiable (I negotiated mine lower). As for what to offer, it depends on your negotiating skill. In my case, I bought a car that came off a 27 month lease, for less than half of it’s original MSRP. I recommend you check the MBUSA CPO site and compare what the selling dealer is asking against the averages. Don’t forget to have the dealer pay for your first year of MBCA membership. It’s there for the asking.
In a nutshell, the car you're getting should be very close to new condition and it should be about half price. The CPO covers almost everything, so there is nothing to worry about. Lastly, I too had a rotary (RX-7) when I got my CLK.

For a 2008 the price is to high and mileage is way to high. In January I bought a 2009 C300 4matic same equipmt. P1 pkg; nav; harmon kardon; etc. 6,000 miles CPO from MB Dealer for $31,500. Look for an '09 which has also some more std equipmt, like memory driver seat (3settings), suspension enhancements, etc. You just have to look a little harder and I am sure you find the car you like. However, if you do like this '08, I wouldn't pay more than $27K for it. Hope this helps

Kelly Blue Book shows the following :
23800 trade
26650 private
31750 retail
33250 cpo
Nada shows :
25450 rough trade
27700 ave trade
29575 clean trade
34100 clean retail
Edmunds shows :
21397 trade
24243 private
26510 retail
28312 cpo
The are 221 similiar cars for sale on Autotrader nationwide :
( certified 2008 C300's with under 45k miles )
35988 high
27475 low
31168 ave
So, I would say :
23549 - 25584 trade
25446 - 27353 private
30786 - 31069 retail
Their asking price of $30995 sounds about right.
If you could pick it up for around $27500, that would be a steal.
Good luck !

Separately - just test drove a 2010 Paladium, Pano, P2, UMI, wood trim. LOVED IT! Got em down to Invoice + $500 = $42,882. But that's still a lot more than a CPO.
