C300 Quad Tips Setup
hi guys, im trying to change my set up from the stock dual tips to quad tips. i was planning to use magnaflow mufflers but the guy at the local exhaust shop told me that it would be difficult to do that. its better if i use aftermarket c63 muffler. Is that true? do you have any advice?

Best way to skin the cat - You have two choices:
1) Purchase another set of OEM w204 dual exhaust tips. Then go to a local body shop, have them fabricate a Y-Pipe, cut your stock tips from your muffler, weld the single end of the y-pipe to your muffler. Weld one of your old tips and one of the new tips to the end of the y-pipe with two exit holes, with the inside tip coming out further then the outside tip, like this:

2) Do all of the above steps, but if you want the stamped ///AMG logo on the tips like in the picture, purchase 4 ///AMG stamped tips and keep yours if you decide to go back to dual, or sell yours to fund the project.
Of course, this won't give you the sound of a true quad exhaust, but it will give you the look at an unbeatable price (especially if you can do some simple welding). I am sure you know this, but you will have to get a c63 diffuser for the quad to fit...

While my suggestion doesn't give a different sound or exhaust note, it gives the quad exhaust look. Cheapest way to add sound on top of that again would be to keep the OEM mufflers, but have the shop add in an X-Pipe. If your still not happy with the results (you should be) you can still have resonators removed and that will give it a bit throatier sound, but may provide some hum or interior cabin noise at highway cruising speeds.
