Just installed my "new style" side mirror PICīS AND WRITEUP INSIDE!!!
Hi Guys.
since iīm new to this forum, i first of all want to say hello to all of you guys.
My name is Daniel, i am 23 years old and from Stuttgart (home of Mercedes Benz ;-) )
Iīm a proud owner of an obsidian black C-class for a while now and was never be
happy with the look of my "old school" mirrors. After a few phonecalls with MB,
i ended up to be contend with my mirrors, since i didnīt want to pay over 2.000 bucks
for simply the look of the "new style" mirrors. I let it rest for a few weeks but
started again to make some phonecalls, but this time with a couple of Friends which
are working in the auto industry. A few days later i took delivery of my new mirrors.
The mirrors arenīt new and got slight signs of usage. But infact that my car isnīt
new either, i really donīt mind.
The best thing about it is that i only paid 629 shipped to my door (799$!!!). After
i sold my old mirrors itīs quite less :-)
As i was told that the assemply of the mirrors is a plug nīplay job, i tryed it on my
own and it was really that easy. But enough talking letīs get it on.

"old style" mirror on my car
at first you have to remove the speakercover to get to the three torx screws, the mirror
is screwed on with
just lift it up with your fingers from the outside of your car (you have to roll down the windows)
simply remove it by pushing it forward (towards your hood)
now you can got access to the three torx screws
after that remove the cover of the electronic box in your side door
again lift it up with your fingers...
...an pull it off
after that you got access to the plugs of the side mirror
now just remove the holding screw...
...and unplug the side mirror wires (make sure the electronic of your car is
completly switched off for the entire assembly)
you can simply pull the old side mirror out of itīs mounting
take the new mirror and remove all sort of foam
you need to leave the assembly-foam of your old mirrors in the spot right on the picture
and just need to get the new mirrors screwed on the same way u unscrewed the old one
now plug in all wires again...
...and remount the electronic and speaker cover
hereīs the result for the first side
final picture after 30 mins of enjoyable labor
After i was done with the installation, i turned the car on and tested the new mirrors.
Everything worked well without problems. Itīs a simple Plug nīPlay job like i was told. Now i
really really really love my car, since i never liked the old style mirrors :-)
If anyone of you is interested in a pair of "new style" mirrors like mine, feel free to pm me.
I can also ask for the "euro spec new style folding mirror" if anyone is interested.
Maybe we can get a groupbuy at an even better price.
best regards from Stuttgart,
Daniel

Oh wow. Great write up. I would definitely be interested in this mod, but probably not right now. Is the driver's side mirror still auto-dimming or is it just a normal mirror? And what would the Euro-Spec folding mirrors be? Are they auto-folding like many of us American's without 2008 models desire? Or are they just manual folding?

great job and thanks for sharing!
I have a 2008 with the power folding and auto dimming mirrors, do you know if the Euro-Spec folding mirrors are plug and play?

Facelift mirror non auto-folding without auto-dimming
Facelift mirror auto-folding without auto-dimming
Facelift mirror auto-folding with auto-dimming
If you have an car with auto-folding option and old-style mirrors, you only have to replace the mirrors. If your has manual-folding mirrors you also
have to buy the door control panel for auto-folding version.
Could you post a picture of the two mirrors (old and new) one over the other from inside the car so we can see the difference in glass?
Thanks

Daniel,
Thanks for posting the new photos.
I was thinking that the new mirrors were only a little shorter but they appear to also be a little narrower too.
Now I'll be noticing how much of the mirrors I actually use.

Nice mod ....... and I admire your guts to DIY No way I'd even be able to come close to even taking off that first screw hehehe !!
I guess it's a good thing I actually don't mind the "older" version blinkers

I have a 2009 C300. I am interested in getting a set of 2010 auto folder mirror. I do not have Auto folding mirrors now. If I get the door control switch will this be a plug and Play? How much can you now get the mirrors. My email address is mbohos@jps.net
