2010 vs 2011 Wheels for C350

Hi, wanted to get some opinions here.

When I ordered my car in May, I went with the standard 17" AMG wheels. Now that they have all the pricing and details out, I find out that MBUSA changed their standard wheels. I called my sales rep and told her that I liked the old wheels better. She checked to see if I could have the AMG wheels, but found out that I can no longer make changes to the order. She came back and offered me a discount on the old style wheels for $700. Attached are the pics for 2010 vs 2011 wheels.

Questions:
1) She says those 17" AMG wheels are 1948 EUR normally. Do you guys think it's really that expensive?

2) Does anyone know the pricing of the new standard wheels?

3) Should I take the 17" AMG for $700?

4) Personal preference question here...do you think the new standard wheels are better than the old?

If you like them better, then yes..$700 is nothing.

I kinda like the new ones though..I'd wanna see them on a car before I decided.

Here are the pics of the wheels on the cars I found on their website. I couldn't find pics from the same angle.

I think the new ones look better....makes the car look more modern as opposed to the AMG wheels which make the car look old.

personally prefer the AMG 17" 6 spoke.. as i hav them on mine as standard...

they are expensive... about £1500. brand new, just the alloys.

but i am changing mine to the 18" AMG VI 5 spoke ones...

Another vote for the new style. It fits the C350s' sporty style. The 5 star would be easier to clean. It also looks bigger as the spokes extend to the outer lip. Don't bother with the old. U don't wanna look old, don't you?

I like the old one better. But then again I'd rather get the 18"s over the 17's any day. But as others have mentioned, the 5 spoke would be easier to clean. Cleaning my 17"s take quite a bit of time.

I have the old style rims. The new rims looks like something my grandpa would like.

I think you should get the old style

I like the old style better than the new ones. The new ones have too much local detail (too busy).

Sunrei, I suggest reading the description of each of the wheels, the new one was styled for the current C350, while the olde one was styled for the old storied AMG c-class, these are for the olde C-Class AMG fangrannies!

Good point about the cleaning. I thought the new one would be harder to clean because of the groves...but I've never cleaned wheels before.

No, I don't want to look old, but pretty much all the Mercedes drivers in Germany are old anyway. Maybe the new ones look better in person. Or maybe I'll buy the old ones and use one set for my winter tires. Ugh...too many decisions, can't decide.

But are wheels really that expensive? And is $700 a good deal?

Denysimo, where can I find the descriptions? Or do you mean the descriptions below the pics?

$700 for wheels+tires would be a great deal actually. But if you go on some reputable sites for AMG replica wheels like powerwheelspro, you can get a set of E63/C63 wheels for around $500, but with new tires, it would come to about $1200 or so overall. If you want to toss in an extra $500 and sell your future stock 17" wheels, you might be happier with that choice instead.

In terms of cleaning my wheels, you definitely have a lot of nooks and crannies to get into. If that's something you'd rather not have to go through, then the 2011's might be a better choice. If you're willing to go through the extra effort, then the 6 spoke wheels would definitely be a better looking set of wheels to go with. (but that's my personal preference.)

The W204 pulls off the 08-10 wheels better than the W203's would :3 And the new ones are more.....refined...So in my point of view, I think the 2011's would be the granny-styled wheels, seeing as they don't stand out as much.

Since you are not getting what you wanted, I would ask for the 18" AMG wheels and ask to pay the standard price for them.

Yes Sunrei, they are the description below the pictures.

One of my favorite wheels for the C350 is the AMG CLS63 style wheel if you can afford these wheels, they are gorgeous on a C, static or spinning! Yes U mustn't for get what the wheels look like when they spin! Haha! It matters believe me, gramps can't see the wheels spinnin'!!

Check these out!!

http://www.powerwheelspro.com/shop/p...roducts_id=304

If you can work out a deal with your deal for these wheels u will not regret it!
Or the knock-offs are pretty affordable and good quality also per the link.
Yes decisions decisions!!

What car color did U order BTW?

Another round of ICE
The only thing possibly more difficult than brushing brake dust out of split spoke wheels will be somehow scooping the brush into that recessed area in the spokes of the other wheels. Doesn't matter what design you have; once brake dust coated, none look good, so I would go for the ones you can keep cleaner. Between these two, that is the split spoke, where you can at least push a narrow brush through.

2010 C300 4matic Special Edition
"New Wheels"

I have those "new wheels" on my 2010 C300 4matic (Canadian Special Edition), and they are very easy to keep clean. I did wonder where MB got those wheels from

I also got black headlights like the C63, oh, and I almost forgot, special floor mats that say "special edition". It was a no-cost edition and it was the only way I could get the color I wanted (Indium Grey). I had no choice about the wheels though, and I would have preferred 18" AMG.

I can't believe people think the new wheels look more grandpa-ish...the old ones are super conservative and bland..the new ones are far sportier and more contemporary looking. You all are crazy.

Like others have said..I'd also try to work a deal the 18" amgs if possible..17s look too small on the w204.

Sign me up for the crazy club. I am a big fan of 5 spoke wheels but those look pretty bad to me. I am not a fan of form over function and those big thick *** spokes with the fancy little grooves cut into them look stupid. I would prefer the split spoke where you can at least argue the split is there to increase cooling and reduce weight and not just to look "pretty".
Anyhow, that is my opinion and I wouldn't think anyones crazy for not agreeing with me...

I can't keep my black SLK very clean so I thought I'd go with the Palladium Silver this time.
