Borrowed a photo and photochopped. What do you think of this LED DRL design which would allow you to keep the OEM fog lights. It would be easy to implement with simple screw brackets or tape. Just need the shape.

I personally do not like it. But then again, I don't like it in the 2011. I would rather have my current set up, fog/driving lights.
Out Of Control!!
Not a fan, but If you could get them to work independently from the fogs then I guess it could work. I think it might look to cluttered during the day
I'd wire them up to be always on. I don't use the DRL setting in the car and rarely use the fogs. So I think during the day they'd look good and at night, it would just be the headlights and these.

I personally think it looks terrible and completely unnecessary just like the new s-class with its overwhelming amount of leds up front.
I guess you either like LEDs or you don't. Seems like they are becoming widely adopted. The lighting/optics engineers in Germany are having fun. I definitely like the look if it is tastefully done. They immediately draw my attention when I see them which is good from a safety standpoint also.
Even BMW is going to bright white LEDs for their angel eyes... here is info from the new BMW X3 site:
BMW's signature ''Corona Rings'' are again illuminated to function as the daytime running lights. When equipped with the optional Xenon headlights, the Corona Rings and daytime running lights are illuminated by bright white LEDs.

I rather have the DRL's in the spot of the fogs.

Interesting look, but I think I'd rather have one or the other. I personally like the straight line of LEDs on the 2011 vs the hockey stick style on the E Class.
I chopped in 2011 style. So you like the left side better?

I like the left 2011 style better than the combo style. However, I'm really not sure that I like the LEDs any better than the traditional foglamps...Originally Posted by lkevinl

id rather have a string of pearls (as i like to call em) along the bottom seam of the eyelids
only issue would be daytime visibility, but at night it would look fantastic if done correctly

Yes, I think that would look good except the eyelid lens would would diffuse the light too much making them har to see during the day.Originally Posted by Arjy

Does anyone kknow if the fog light mesh is separate from the center mesh? I believe I saw a picture showing that it was. This should mean a retrofit to the 2011 would be possible. Then you could just use the original fog light power and a possible reprogram?

the 1 on the left, but def not a blue color.. stay more towards the pure white.. where do you plan on getting a solid piece of mesh that matches the mesh in the center of the bumper?Originally Posted by lkevinl

Well, I'm thinking that the mesh/LED assembly from the 2011 should fit there perfectly as a retrofit.Originally Posted by bigigg

But, I saw a thread on here where someone replaced their center plastic mesh with a steel or aluminum mesh to make it more rock resistant... they painted it and shaped it perfectly, looked great.

I think the L shape would look better if you hugged the upper part of the foglight housing and then wrapped it down the slant. Pretty much flip your design. Then it would look aggressive like the E-Class DRL. Could you photoshop this, I might be interested in doing this instead of retrofitting the e-class drl themselves and disabling the fogs for good.
