Need Side Marker Halpz

Hey guys, looking for some help with my girlfriend's 08 C300. She told me today that her side marker was loose, so I went to take a look at it and it was a little loose. I pulled it and it fell right out of the bumper. Upon further inspection, I found that there was a black plastic piece inside the bumper that the side marker is supposed to snap into, I assume. Well, this plastic piece was totally loose and not attached to anything.

Does anyone know how I could possibly fix this?

Thanks in advance.

hey kev,

there's suppose to be a screw holding the sidemarker together. the base and the sidemarker just clamps together. it doesn't attach to anything else. one of the very garbage design of the US 204.

haha wow, thats surprising. so are you saying that black plastic piece that is loose is supposed to be attached to the bumper lining with a screw? and the side marker just snaps into that?

no, i meant the screw holds onto the black piece to the side marker after you snaps it into place.

hmmm im still a little confused. i did see that the side marker has two hooks onto the bottom that hooks onto the black piece and a wedge shaped piece at the top that snaps onto the black piece. but without removing the fender lining, i wouldn't be able to snap them into place because the black piece is loose and dangling inside.

yes, that is how it goes on.

once you clip it into place there is suppose to be a screw inserted from the back of the black piece to securely hold onto the side marker so it doesn't come loose. you can see the extra hole on the back of your side marker

FYI, not all sidemarkers have screws. Mine didn't and sounds like yours doesn't either.

Search is your friend.
Here are a couple threads w/ some good pics on the whole assembly. As Mike stated, some cars had the Torx screw, some did not. Mine did. However, that's mainly as an extra measure of safety. Once you snap the two halves together, it's a fairly snug fit. Sounds like your GF's marker didn't get snapped together completely or one of the hook-tabs broke/wore down.

yup, some cars did not which is probably a installation error when they came out of the factory.
