I'm sure, lol.
Seriously though, what is it to like about horn beeps?
It's a raunchy sound that's intent is to startle. A "classy" and "sophisticated" chirp like sound is what's more than appropriate for a brand that markets themselves like Mercedes, as well as has the legendary cache of the brand.
This is Mercedes-Benz after all, the small things MUST count!

I hear you. But usually the OEM systems are more of subtle "beeps".
Still, the horn sounds are known to be the lowest common denominator when it comes to OEM Alarm sounds. Maybe someone should invent a new type of sound.
Clearly though, in reality, M-B is dropping the chirp to save a few pennies. Kinda scary, considering what they might do next to further "cheapen" the brand when it comes to these attentions to detail.

Nice. You're going to get thrashed with those wheels on the crappy MTL roads.
Even with my 17's they were damaged when I had my car there Jan - June this year. Should have gotten the ML for MTL haha - some of the worst roads I've ever been on - even compared to Sao Paulo LOL
I'd be surprised if those non-forged 19" wheels last a couple of mths.

The Mercedes person that sold me the car told me that they changed the OEM wheels in the 2011 model because they are cheaper. She mentioned that next will be the fold-out monitor because they are too expensive to manufacture.

I agree on the no off position.... (Knock on wood) Neither of my HID's have failed yet but I've seen the occasional W204 with a busted lamp. I HATE it when the lights turn on and off while passing through wide (and congested) underpasses or indoor parking garages... I do tons of night driving and have put nearly 50,000 miles on my odometer so far, so I figure I should be losing one sooner than later.
BTW, what's with the W212 turning on the HID's when unlocking the car? Just the LED's or integrated fogs would work fine too... It seems like a great way to bust a headlight prematurely (lol, that's what she said.)
The integrated fogs, on the other hand, is an excellent idea. No more smashed fog lamps!

Yeah, all models, from the C to the friggin' SLS get the cheap horn beep.
Yeah, cost cutting is unfortunate with M-B right now. I just hope they don't start smearing the brand, and do it cleverly enough that even those of us who are detail freaks, won't notice much.
Agreed. I hate that my HID's turn on for these little pointless moments, and when I get in the car in a garage, etc. Aren't the damn LED daytime/fogs enough? Seems they're happy to get us spending $$$$ on replacing lights when the time comes.

the LEDs in DRL mode are fairly bright (much less than the fogs) but only go on during the day. At night when the Xenon go on, the LEDs are much less bright and give off NO light whatsoever, just a glow from the strip so you know it's there.

yeah the new fogs barely give out any light at night.. kinda dissapointed when i see audi's at night because they're so much brighter

So the horn beep a full volume horn sound?
I really hate that and thought only American cars have it.
It is startling and very annoying, and inconsiderate at night or locking/unlocking when there's an unsuspecting person nearby.

We should complain to MBUSA about it. It's the only way they'll get their heads back in the game and get an alarm "beep" that sounds fit for the brand.... Or at least, doesn't sound fit for a Chevy Cobalt.

Don't knock the 'Bu man!
Actually, I gotta say the Malibu's system seems superior to the current M-B system. As with "Da 'Bu", if you press "Lock" once, it does it silently, and if you press it twice, it honks! Best of both worlds!

Lol, I was playin' around too. Emotion doesn't work to well on the Netz.
Yeah, the 'Bu is amazing for the price, I really did my research and got the best car for what I needed it for. And it's actually a pretty good looker, all things considered, as well.
And your "Benz or 'Bu" comment is right on! I gotta say, having a "lesser" car, ALWAYS makes you appreciate your "nicer" car. I treat my E like a Ferrari, no joke, and I did my last E as well. And I look forward to driving it, all the time. It just keeps you humble. Not to mention, it keeps your car fresh to you for a very long time.
I was in my dirty 'Bu, driving across State a month or so back, and I was passing a SICK blacked out W212, with two young dudes in it. The car looked like a diamond in the rough, so beautiful. I was just glowing with the fact that.... After the gawking, and thinking how they must be like "yeah dude, keep jockin'", I remembered, "I have that car in my garage!" Just made me feel good.
My life consists of either a crammed work schedule, which gets rigorous on the driving sometimes (or parking, for that matter), which is where the trusty 'Bu comes into play, which leaves the Benz for mostly pleasure driving, and chores, going around town, etc. Makes the chores, etc. all the more pleasureful, hehe.

Hah, very nice. A Porsche does need a DD indeed.
Using a Benz/E-Class as a garage queen is kind of an oxymoron, but hey, we all have our individual reasons.
