Speed Camera takes great pictures
I always thought it was a redlight camera until I decided to beat the light. The photos on the website are awesome. I had to shrink the image to get it to post on image shack. I think I might speed through again to get some more pics. I got 3 high res photos for $40.

2010 C300 6 Speed M/T
That sucks! Soon it will be the end of the fun of driving in the USA... OK, I know the laws are there for safety but IMHO it's basically to lowest common denominator, ie modern cars that can go fast safely if the driver is skilled and experient but someone in their 20 year old poorly maintained Chevrolet Caprice or Ford Tempo POS (ok many out there can't afford to get a better car but POS just the same) going at those speeds would kill themselves... Again I know the laws are there for a purpose but I think most drivers with a nice powerful car do drive faster when it's safe like on a straight of a multilane highway when traffic is extremely light (and I am not saying going 40-50 miles over the limit, just a little faster, say 85 in a 65 which is what a lot of drivers do on the NJ turnpike and GS Parkway here in NJ, big rigs included) What's really wrong with that? If you crash on a straight away highway at the posted limit of 65 mph I think you are just as f'd as at 85... So it seems in the future if you are a careful driver who likes to sprint occasionally just counting on your radar detector and sight to avoid getting a ticket your only option would be track days if you can afford the cost (own a car not lease either) of extra wear and tear and perhap no ins coverage.
I have some experience with highway radar in Brazil. There the cameras are not on full time meaning if you know where they are located you can just reduce your speed when you drive over the trigger sensors. So basically since they don't have many (any?) highway radar/laser patrols you basically can go as fast as you want between radar stations, which to me defeats the states purpose of having them... Of course they have mobile stations but think they are not used much... So in Maryland, does the camera track the cars along a stretch of road and takes pics or is the system triggered by sensors at the point the camera is located.
On a side note F'g Newark NJ now has traffic cams. A few weeks after I got my 2010 C300 I was caught making a right on red without stopping... It turned yellow as I approached the crosswalk and to be honest I could have stopped but I stretched the yellow since there were no pedestrians or traffic and especially no cops in sight. But sure enough the stills show clearly a sign alerting to the traffic cam. I captured the video but have no place to host it, only can post stills on my pbase pages. Ticket was 80 bucks IIRC but at least there are no points.
Did you get points for your speeding ticket? In which case how do they figure who was the driver? If they do give out points I'd send Grandma's confession to the court so she gets the points but has no auto insurance lol.

Dude....I love your attitude. Those are some awesome pics you got there! You should do it when the sun isn't directly hovering over you for better lighting.

There are two small white spots on the left yellow line. The camera takes a picture when the front of the car passes the first white line and then another when the front of the car passes the second white line. Then there is a little physics. The white lines are set distance that the camera knows, and it simply just records the exact times it took the pictures. d=v/t, and conversely v=d*t... Magic.

It's funny that the pics show a nice open road with nothing ahead or behind, no oncoming traffic and no cross streets yet 47 MPH in a modern car is considered too fast.
Doesn't make sense until you remember that unfortunately, laws are made to accomodate the lowest common denominator...

In D.C. I racked up $300 in speed camera violations in a two week period. That put a hurting on my wallet. I did not know that there was a speed camera on the strecth of I-395 going through the tunnel, headed to New York Ave. Boy did I learn quick.
